@Koopa
I use Google Chrome, and whenever I load a page on this forum it doesn't load ANY video until I click on said video. Maybe your version of firefox is just being weird? Maybe a weird setting? I'm running on internet that's SLOWER than dial up (yes I said slower) and I can view the threads fine.

Going to shamelessly plug my upcoming Mega Man game and test the new youtube feature at the same time! BONUS!

I've found an adblock solution in the meantime - I'm away from home for a few days so I'll have more information by the end of the week. It's most likely on my end, as it seems to be working for everybody else.

Ok, back home and the internet's working again - haven't found the problem yet but a few interesting things. Now I've got my big laptop again (and updated the flash plugin), it doesn't freeze, but I can see this with firebug:

For each swf file referenced, it does actually load something when the page loads - only about 1 KB, and presumably it's the title/background image that firefox initially displays. While most are from youtube.com, some redirect to ytimg.com and also load a crossdomain.xml file from there.

Purezc itself fires an XmlHttpRequest, or at least tries (I've blocked it) - http://www.purezc.co...lhttprequest.js - any one know what that's about?

The video from theZCking fails to play, the others work for me.

Netbook still freezes, I'll check the extensions and run some updates. The fact that it works on one and freezes on another of my laptops seems to point to a problem my end - I'll check the generated tags on the page anyway though.

EDIT: It seems you can embed a literal ampersand in [ youtube ] tags and it'll put it in the object tag unquoted - I'm not sure, but that may be a security risk.
EDIT2: I can't see any direct risk, but this feature can be abused to do things like start playing the video automatically. (Put 50 of those on a page and you've got something that's sure to crash any browser.)

Just one more thought. If it's not already taken care of, could we forbid youtube videos in signatures? They're likely to be more of an annoyance than anything else there, not to mention their size disrupting the flow or reading if someone's trying to follow the actual topic.

I actually hadn't thought of that Koopa, but you're absolutely right; that would be quite annoying. I actually find really long signatures one of the absolute most annoying things you can do as a poster and YouTube videos are definitely not kind to my 800 vertical pixel maximum. icon_razz.gif (This is coming from somebody that went through a few crazy 500px or so signatures back in his younger days, so I'm definitely sympathetic to people wanting to put everything about themselves in their signature, but seriously. Less is more.)

Aside: While I think we can globally prohibit things like HTML of BBCode in signatures, I don't think that we can prevent a specific tag from being used. That would be pretty sweet, but I don't think we'll have any trouble seeing a giant box. icon_blah.gif

I agree 100% on not allowing youtube videos in signatures, for all the same reasons mentioned. In fact, if I ever noticed it, I would want to immediately edit it out of the person's signature.

EDIT: Seeing no reason to have it otherwise, I decided to add it to the end of the signature rule:

Also, embedding youtube videos in your signature is strictly forbidden. Doing so will have it removed upon notice, and you will be PM'd about it.

DFW...first of all, if you forget who I am, I'll put up an image on my profile eventually from my AGN profile. Yes, it's really me.

Second of all...how the...? That can't be the ZQuest editor...did you do this using the Stencyl utility or something else? Regardless, I'm interested in what you're doing!

This is for AJAX stuff, like topic listing view, the ability to edit topic titles inline as a mod. The ability to, as a mod, double-click a topic indicator to lock the thread, and also used in the AJAX My Assistant that pops up, (Search results), and could be for autocomplete as well. It's nothing to be worried about.
