Barack Obama has been elected as the 44th president of the United States of America. In order to win, McCain needed to get Pennsylvania, Ohio, and/or Florida, none of which he did.

McCain gave a very classy and excellent speech (very comforting to hear him speak without having to sling any mud, his crowd tried to ruin the atmosphere with boos and such, but he was quick to quell them).

Congratulations United States!

[EDIT: this isn't a debate topic, just a place for the oh holy **** **** Obama won this is AWESOME kinda posts.]

You took the words right out of my mouth. I don't mean to offend anybody, but I honestly think that Obama will implant socialism in America.

No offense, but I highly doubt that.
It is time to see what Obama will do for America as our president. I hope that he can bring change to this country, which has suffered under George W. Bush's policies, such as the Iraq War, the economy, ect.

Mild socialism ideology doesn't mean communism. Also, I know you're gonna throw out something like Soviet Union as a communist example, but sorry that was stalinism. Communism is an impossible idea that won't ever be implemented perfectly because not everyone can support such a thing but it does need support from everyone.

Sorry for the tangent, but I really hate these childish comments about how Obama is a commy. Some socialistic ideas =/= commy, please go read or listen to something other than your parents rant about candidates before you start spewing this everywhere.

In before the move to the debate forum.

--EDIT--

Oh yeah, and grats Obama, not really sure how I feel about this election either way it went, but it's not the worst choice in the world.

A site staff member trolling? Oh come on now. Keep the socialism vs. Communism **** in debate forum please, doesn't belong in this thread, nor does it add annyytthingg.

At the very least it'll be interesting to see the impact this will have on the rest of the world, or at least their perception of the United States.

Apparently people are mobbing the White House. But in the good way icon_wink.gif.

I sincerely hope this doesn't have to be moved. I'm willing to try it out here.

More or less expected. Although I still agree more with Republican economic ideology, I can accept a mild, "benign" socialism. Obama's a lot more left than I would even like for that, though.

Eh, whatever. It's another president in a long line- he can't fundamentally change the system even more than you or I can (alone).

EDIT: I should say: enjoy your victory, Democrats. You earned it, and this is great progress for African-Americans throughout the nation.

we need a cahnge which george w bush promised but broke it due to his overly obssed iraq war. barack obama made history and has broken corrihated everything that the united states did in the past. slavery, racism etc. Congrats to obama and his victory. now to kick bush out the white house and make this country prosperous like it was before bush reigned for 8 years. again congrats to obama's victory =)

He's about to give his acceptance speech. Considering how great McCain's secession speech was, I fully expect Obama to blow my mind.

...Or something else.

My problem here is not solely based upon the fact that Obama won. It's the fact that people are already rubbing it in others' faces that really steams me. Yeah, I might be a sore loser, and I always have been, but this will blow over. If I can learn to be a better sport, so can anyone. This is an extremely volatile time. Part of it is also because of the fact that some of us supported the losing candidate for a long time, and it's all been for nothing.

If you're going to gloat, go somewhere else. It's only going to cause problems here.

Lemon: thanks for rent-a-modding against me. I know it was a mistake to post. You didn't have to point it out. I've already warned myself for a troll and put you down for a rent-a-mod, if it makes any kind of difference.

European style socialism would be good for the American people. You kids need to dwelve further than command and conquer games/tom clancy novels when looking up what socialism is.

In fact you have many elements of socialism in yuor country right now, without them you can rest assured things would have been very unpleasant.

And congratulation to America for this historic win of a Black, muslim raised man. A definite sign of changing times.

If he puts Bush on trial for war crimes America's previous leadership status around the world would instantly be restored.

But I doubt he can do that much. Hopefully he just steers you guys away from total ruin, the path Bush set you on.

I don't know all that much about the candidates this term, as I honestly really don't care. It is pretty neat to witness the first black president, though

There are a few things I'm worried about, though. First, I'm concerned that he doesn't know what he's getting himself into. From what I've heard about him, he seems to think that he can sweet-talk other nations, which won't fly at all. Not only that, but it seems like other countries won't take him seriously because of it, and might walk all over him

Second is, and I hate to bring it up, but, he is black. I'm not racist, but the fact is, there are a lot of people out there that are. I've read a couple articles that have popped up in the last hour or so about the 'white supremists', and their views on Obama. Makes me a bit concerned about not only his safety, but the safety of the United States in general

Actually, the more I think about it, the more I get a bad feeling about him being president. But I suppose we'll see, won't we?

The one thing I don't understand is how people think that the past 8 years were the worst in American history. Our current president did possibly one of the best jobs that any president has done, and in time, people will nominate him as one of the top presidents of the united states.

First off, people think that this whole war in Iraq was the wrong choice. I think that it was a good choice, since the country was full of terrorists that wanted us dead. If we didn't go in there, we would possibly have been attacked again. And why do people think that Bush is responsible for this whole economic crisis? It was never in his power to control how the government spends money, that belongs to the House of Representatives. Guess who had majority of the house for the past two years?

For the main point I am making, I am not congratulating Obama, but our current President, for making this one of the best 8 years in American history.
