Bent capacitors inside a computer are generally a bad thing, right?

Yeah, so I opened up my computer and took a look inside, and I found that my modem seems to have a large number of capacitors that are bent at various angles - and other little dohickeys on the modem board are also bent. I don't use the modem anymore since I'm connected to a wireless router, but I have another issue too.

The motherboard itself of this computer - the heat sink/fan is placed in a position on the motherboard to where it seems to have caused a capacitor on the MB to be forced 'out of the way', and by that I mean it's bent at an angle. It can't just be bent back because the fan is in the way. I want to know just WHO set up my computer like this and WHY they couldn't find a better way.

But generally speaking, bent capacitors like that are a bad sign, aren't they? I mean, the last time one of my motherboards died on me, capacitors and stuff were warped, bent, and some of them leaked.

Bent isn't a problem as long as they still have a connection.

Warping and leaks are both bad problems that usually occur after many, many ears have passed (we have an old Mac Plus that just recently had a capacitor leak from age - the fluid inside takes a long time to eat through the capacitor's casing but it does eventually leak.)

In addition really cheap motherboards have cheap capacitors that aren't very durable.

But you should be all right unless someone decides to pull the capacitors off.
