One little problem with posting progress on quests I encountered is that it only works well when the quest being played is long enough for regular updates, has something worth saying about, and is an overall positive experience. Nargad's Trail was a perfect example of that sweet spot. The last couple quests I played haven't been the best experiences and I didn't want to bring down the overall tone of the threads by ranting about what a bad time I was having. Positivity is better than nothing which is better than criticism or something of that sort.

Probably.

Maybe I've got this idealistic perspective about books clubs despite never being part of one. But part of it is that it gets people to read genres they might otherwise pass up on; since it might be someone else's favourite genre. (Someone might like horror, and another be all in on romance, etc etc).

I don't think quest club should be an opportunity to dunk on quests, but I would find a contrarian perspective interesting to read as long as it brings some good thoughts to the table. I know when Russ was playing one of the entries a while back and I was watching, he had some pretty varied views of the dungeon in question he was doing. It did some pretty cool things, but also had frustrating aspects in puzzles that you repeatedly had to resolve because they were on the main pathway through the place.

I think there's merit in finding the good even in things you don't like, while also not being shy about the flaws that causes you to not want to keep playing. I guess it all comes down to what people think brings about the most discussion to begin with. Personally I'd hope that people try quest club quests to give them a fair chance, not as an opportunity to dunk on them (Which I don't think anyone has been doing?)

Lots of good thoughts in this thread.  I know for me it's just a matter of playing time.  I'm really busy.  I had mentioned maybe "Quest of the Month Club" rather than every two weeks.  I agree curators' picks should be somehow rotated through.  I also agree the focus should be somewhat "overlooked" or "underplayed" quests rather than quests almost everyone has an opinion on.  I also like the idea of having it be primarily 8-15 hour quests rather than 20-30 hour quests.  I don't know why I picked Lost Isle.  I'm glad the Labyrinth of Dinus picked seemed to work out as well as it did.  I find it interesting to see if Quests I liked a decade ago still hold up.  Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.  God of Power didn't hold up as well as I expected.

I did finally start playing through Eiyuu.  I played it a few years ago but have mostly forgotten it.  It's really good and harder than I remember.  Like I've said elsewhere, I never would have played Nargad's Trial but for QC, and I ended up loving it, so I'd hate to see it die entirely.  There's a good concept here it just needs some tweaking.  We can always shift on the fly.  We're not rewriting the Constitution.  If something isn't working we change it until it's working for the maximum number of players.

I don't know why I picked Lost Isle.
