Windows XP, Vista and 7 32bit as well as 64bit all officially support up to 2 terabytes. Greater then 2 terabyte capacities require unofficial support provided through the Motherboard/BIOS. (I forget if Windows 9x had an artificial limit of less then 2 terabytes and I'm unsure if they decided on a new official Standard for greater capacities yet)

The easiest way to backup stuff in this situation is to get an external hard drive and connect it to the PC, somehow acquire a copy of a Linux Live disc of a distribution that supports NTFS formatted partitions and boot off the disc. You will be in a Linux operating system that runs 100% in RAM and does not touch the hard drive at all allowing you access to functionality that you otherwise couldn't access like a web browser, hard disk recovery software etc. Simply copy stuff from the broken HDD to the external.

Hey Old-skool icon_biggrin.gif
Let me ask how did everything go
Did you get all the drivers installed alright?

EDIT: what do you mean By that
Do you mean its telling you pick a thing to start up
Then it has a count down?

I know how to change the Start up Options
If you need help i can help you with this

Okay! Can you turn your computer on?
And start windows up?

After you start windows up

On your desktop. Look for your "My computer" icon

Right click it and go to properties
And then System properties opens
You should see 7 tabs

Now Click The "Advance" tab

You'll see Three things
1.Performace

2.User profils

3.Start up and recovery <click this one

You'll see a window open up with some options

Now look for a option Called "Time to display list of Operating systems"
Theres a check box next to it
Click it off

Then Click OK

After that Restart and see if windows will start up automatically

Hope that'll help

I'd not worry so much about drivers for tonight. I've got flash and java installed on here so far, as well as my <3 Firefox w/ noscript and adblock. may need to reinstall the graphics card driver, though that hasn't really been a nuisance (aside possibly from causing issues opening up windowed Zquest. But just Windowed.)

yes, but now I've installed SP2 and my wireless adapter isn't getting a signal from the very wireless network I'm on right now, right next to the computer! AAAAAAAA

There is like one network in range of it, encrypted, and it isn't mine.

EDIT: now it is up. apparently a very coincidental downtime...?

Service Pack 3 is known to have some issues with newer hardware (even though half the reason it was released in the first place was to negate those issues, among other things).

With the old drive intact, have you been able to recover anything?

@Sigtau: I believe his data is still there
He said Here that the data on the other drive was still intact

Wonder why i've never had any issues with sp3?

SP2 comes before SP3. It is recommended to run through processes for both of them.
