I'd like to return to this thread simply to state unequivocally that no one on the development team is considering the concept of monetization further.
I believe ZC and this community's creations - from awesome quests to game assets freely provided for others to make games of their own - is something to be treasured and shared with more of the world. It was with that mindset that I began tinkering with ZC over the last couple years: it's why I ported it to the Web/Mac/Linux, slowly but surely am rewriting the engine to support true Z3 scrolling to enable the next generation of quests, and that mindset was even the source of these (admittedly misguided) thoughts on monetization. I'd very much like to reach more of the Zelda fans of the world, as ZC has a lot to offer them.
