It's all according to what sounds good to you. If you like a different one that's just fine.

As for the soundfonts missing instruments just include midi files that have those instruments when you convert the sf2 file to the patches.dat. They'll be added right in to the dat file. That ought to help make it easier on sounding more similar to the SNES, NES, or whatever you want it to sound like.

You pass in midis after the input and output filenames.
pat2dat patches.dat input.sf2 midi.mid
