The scariest part of this story is that the burglars were actually intimidated and ran away.

I'm willing to bet the robbers were a little high when they held up the family. But even if they weren't, it's been said that practically all criminals are nervous when they pull a heist, because they know just how badly it can go wrong. Also because they're typically untrained and it takes awhile to become good at any given crime.
Anyway, yeah, the story's about 6 months old now. Didn't read it the first time, though.

What dorks.
I guess I could wrap a bandanna around my head, put on an eyepatch, grab a sword, and scare off burglars cuz I told them I was a pirate.
Dude, that's hilarious as heck. Although, if it were me, and someone was putting a gun to MY little sister's head, and they didn't know about me, I have REAL swords, and they wouldn't be able to so much as HOLD a gun anymore after I'd get done with them.
Anyways, yeah, this IS too good to pass up.

Same here(Fourth paragraph). Anyway, I thought that was hilarious. I had to pee afterwards. Also, they probably were high.

1: The burglars were novices, and probably only used the guns to get their way. They were far too scared to actually shoot anyone, but they could make it seem like they would.
2: The boy was obviously beyond invoking fear in. If you have a gun, can't shoot it, and he isn't afraid, there's really nothing you can do.
3: The boy was screaming at the top of his lungs, demanding that they let his family go and leave. Nothing ruins a burglary like loud noise.

It could be a combination of elements.
1: The burglars were novices, and probably only used the guns to get their way. They were far too scared to actually shoot anyone, but they could make it seem like they would.
2: The boy was obviously beyond invoking fear in. If you have a gun, can't shoot it, and he isn't afraid, there's really nothing you can do.

all too true. But I don't think they were high on weed, the were probably wanting money to get weed, when your high you don't get nervous, you get more confident, but that would also explain why the didn't shoot, cause the were high, I don't know! But one thing I am sure of is that the were noobs at this burglary shiz! They should have watched the show "It takes a thief" on the discovery channel, it teaches you how to commit robbery, well its suppose to teach you how venerable your house can be to robbery, then they give a state of the art security system, but none the less these dumb a** noobs needed to watch that show, to be successful!

Ai ai ai! The world is in danger!
I think I just nicked her material there...
However I'm more concerned that those guys were OK pointing a gun at a five-year-old's head. If they'd do that, I'm surprised they ran off because of a 4-year-old in a power ranger costume.
