Well, I have a Wal-mart two block from my house, and I have seen these lap-tops in question up-close and personal. However, they're behind hard plastic cases, and not on, so it's hard to say how well they work.

The advertisments show them coming with some very nice features; lots of memory, CD/DVD burner, integrated...something or other...can't remember off the top of my head, and wide, bright screen. In other words, the sound like good comptuers.

However, looking at them in person? They look like crap. Thier keyboards have keys that look smaller then standard keyboard; someone like me would be prone to smashing more then one key at a time. The little area where the mouse is has small buttons, and the touch-thingy (sorry, you can tell I'm not much of a computer person) is like the size of half a business card. There is then a LOT of empty space, where there is just, well, plastic. They are, in my opinion, the ugliest computers I have ever seen. The screens are off with carboard infront of them with the advertisments, so you can't actually see how bright they are.

Personally, I'm waiting a little bit, but I'll probably get a Gateway. I've had a lot of success with Gateway. Dells are supposed to be good and affordable, but I've had such bad experiances with the Dell desktops at college that I never want to see another Dell in my life, and the Macs they had at the school I worked at were crap, and I just don't like them. I find a PC so much easier to use then a Mac, and that might just be because I was raised on PCs.

Oh, and the Wal-mart game stuff? Guess what? There's no deal on those; Nintendo and the other companies regulate thier prices. Wal-mart cuts us no slack, so it really doesn't matter where you got your items.

Wal-mart is not a bad store, and they do have some quality items, but thier laptops are less then desired. But that's just my opinion.

they have a Toshiba Sattelite A205, Toshiba Sattelite a215 and another one I can't remember up there

If I remember the specs The a205 has 1 gig of ram, 180 megs of hardrive space, I don't remember the processor, It has an integrated microphone and webcam icon_frown.gif

Are they the best? I don't think so, but they are about average laptops, to say the least.
