Large-ish image (Not sure if it breaks the size limits)

Came across this on Serebii.

This... explains... everything. Seriously. Just as a reminder, this also applies to other fanbases including Pokemon too.

Discuss.

Edit: Speaking of Pokemon, I expect Gen VI to be the most hated generation and Gen IV to be the most loved pretty soon.

Are we going to determine a whole fanbase just because a select few have really odd logic?

No, as this is only a theory. It isn't a fact, but there is evidence that supports this theory.

From memory (and research seems to have confirmed this), I remember that Wind Waker and Twilight Princess got all of the bashing at their respective releases while Ocarina of Time and Majora's mask got all of the love at the same respective times. Now, from what it seems, Skyward Sword is getting all of the hate and Wind Waker is getting all of the love. This is why I agree with this theory.

Edit: Added a Theory tag for clarification (and put that as the prefix).

Actually this has been mentioned by the developers of the games. :P (Sorry, I don't remember a link. Look up "Developers on Zelda Cycle" maybe? Sorry).

The theory is so true it's actually kind of funny.

I don't know if this can really be considered a cycle since it has a broad range encompassing multiple games during each phase. It's hard to generalize things with that many variables and there isn't really a noticeable loop point.

The Sonic Cycle was probably a better example of a cycle (though I think it has mostly been broken by this point) since it involved a generalized cycle some groups of Sonic fans went through during the announcement of a single game up until after its release.

I believe that there is a common mentality that defines being a "fan", that's why the stereotype exists. But just like all stereotypes, they don't apply to all fans. I'm pretty certain the original poster already knew that.
