Yes, what drives me, is comments. And ofcourse, seeing and playing the finished product.
I just love getting comments on my stuff... most of my loose tiles are made bcause I wanted comments

I use ZC, because just a few years ago, I found out about ROM hacks. I saw all these really cool games that fans made, and I really wanted to do something like that on my own. I tried some Zelda 1 level editors, but they were all crap. Anyway, when I found ZC, I instantly remembereed all those ROM hacks. It's really the joy of being able to make a Zelda game that drives me, I guess.

Because I wasn't willing to waste my time learning a scripting language that only applies to GameMaker or RPGMaker.

Ah I love these stories, my ZC journey began when I was...9 or 10. This new gamestore opened near my house that sold a bunch of old consoles and games. Now ever since I was a little kid I LOVED Zelda, aLttP was always my favorite. But I never played the first 2 but I always wanted to. So I started saving up for a NES (only made about 10 dollars in 4 months back then.) When I told my dad he did a little research and low and behold found Zelda Classic. I immediately downloaded it and beat Zelda 1, I fiddled around with the editor a bit, and put it down since I was to young and idiotic to realize how great it was.
4 years later I remembered it one night and checked up on zeldaclassic.com. I then joined AGN and started posting a bit, I believe I was 14 at this point. I started to learn the program instead of shelling out crap. So for a few months I spent a lot of time experimenting with it till I was pretty sure I knew it well enough. At this point I started my first unnamed quest, even though I knew the program I was HORRID at design. My overworld was classic newby style but of course didn't realize it.
So then I realized after quite awhile that quest sucked, I then started using DoR and making Elemental Power, this really wasn't that bad. I had gotten a lot of the overworld design down but hadn't really done anything with dungeons. After a year of sheer boredom with Elemental Power, I tried to redo my style, this lead me to /M/'s QPF thread. During this time I had been most proud of my custom boss sprites found here. Still pretty ******* proud of it for my first custom work. Completely done in ZQ no other program.
That thread lead me to TriMaster to suggesting me and Schwa making a quest together, Schwa was to busy but Evan_the_Great volunteered for it. We then started Despair which is where I discovered my love for PTUX and my dislike of DoR. Now I'm just a guy working on a quest I'm pretty proud of who lurks around here. >_>
I know I said more than just why I started ZC, but I got caught up...suck it.

I've always wanted to make a Zelda Game, and RPGMaker and GameMaker both didn't work out... then I found ZeldaClassic. It's just a lot of fun for me. I'm a major Zelda fan.

Why I did...
Simply because Zelda is a favorite franchise, and I had fun doing it. With new versions and the like, standards rose and so did my own. I wasn't able to keep up with them, so I quit.
And now I can't get back into it no matter how hard I try.

I tried making a Zelda game in RPG maker and it sucked.
I stumbled upon this place and researched ZC and played around a bit with it and started LoT.
I'd say I've improved since then.

Just like me when comparing my old and new SoD Shots.
