What about adding default Hero Defense Types, affecting NPC Collision (based on NPC Types)?
I thought about that, while writing the BattleCat riding Script for He-Man
It would make sense to make the player ignore all ground enemies (if he's riding).
...rather than entirely disabling Collision Detection.
And I'm sure that flexible Hero->NPC Defenses can also be helpful, in many other cases.
