Is Retro Studios developing it?

Let the gods be praised because halle-fucking-lujah, about time. I don't even know if it's like the other Primes or a 2D sidescroller, but at this point i'll take either.
Edit: Damn, just realized Prime 3 is nearly 10 years old.

Exciting! I thought Corruption was a little underwhelming compared to Prime and Echoes, but hoping this will be an amazing entry in the series. I have no money, but looking forward to playing through Fusion again soon, I only played that through once ages ago.

Metroid 2 remake for 3DS just announced too.

Metroid Prime 3 has very few things you can scan besides the enemies and the gameplay is split in to segregated environments that are largely linearly explored until you've done like 80% of the game. It is a massive departure from Metroid Prime 1 & 2. Despite these massive shortcomings, it was a solid yet dull experience.

No. It was confirmed that Retro Studios is not developing it. It will be a new team.

Most of the people who worked in the Prime trilogy left Retro Studios. So even if Retro Studios was working on Prime 4, it still wouldn't be the same people.

Producer Kensuke Tanabe is supposedly still on board though, for whatever that's worth. Hoping they have a good team, and if Retro really is still working on a game like has been rumored, then hey, more good shit! I hope. I admit I'm only slightly less excited to hear Prime 4 isn't Retro, but Norzan is right. Much of the Prime personnel has moved on.

There's nothing more annoying than a company announcing a game with a trailer, but not actually showing anything. How are you supposed to get excited over something you can't see? Lol. "HEy, there's this thing coming out next year, stay tuned!" And then everyone will forget about it until then.

The Metroid fanbase has been (im)patiently waiting for a new entry for ages. Since 2007. Other M soured them and Federation Force was salt in their wounds. A Prime 4 announcement is more than enough. They won't forget. I won't forget.

Just the fact that it has been confirmed by an official source that the game is in actual development is more than enough to me.

Metroid 2 remake for 3DS just announced too.
I'd buy it. Also... now I have a reason to get a Switch, eventually. That and maybe Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 would be high on my purchase list. Given the time frame, there's even the slim chance the price of the system might drop by then. We'll have to wait and see.
