This seems pretty neat. I wouldn't mind trying out a tileset in this style... While I never really grew up on Atari (that was more my mom's thing when she was a young adult), being the huge fan of retro stuff I am, it still very much interests me.

I want to use this for the fun of it, and then eventually make a quest out of it. It's just a fun looking tileset, that's what makes it great.

I'm a bit too young to remember when games were like this (first console was the Gameboy), but it does remind me of the minigames from Five Nights at Freddy's 2 (which were probably made to look like that era of games as well).
Still, would certainly like to see this tileset get expanded on. More variety in tilesets is a nice thing to have (we can't all make our quests using Firebird after all )

If you finish this, I would use it. Basically registered just to say that.

I think this could e a cool little set, purely for the novelty of it.

I seem to remember that at one point, someone made a NES Zelda hack, with Atari-esque graphics. I'm not going to concern myself with if it accurately represents the hardware, as it would be a rather complex thing to accomplish with ZC. The 2600's colour flashing, and sound modulation are rather infamous, and setting up a proper representation of that with ZC would be more trouble than it'd ever be worth.
That said, the screens wouldn't look too out of place, although the tiles need 2600 dithering. Certainly, the old Stella had far uglier games, but it was capable of better than the Wizard Video games, and the late Activision rubbish.
There was however, one gem of a game, that most people have forgotten, Dragonstomper, the closest thing to Zelda, or JRPGs, (before Zelda, and DQ), on western consoles. It's easily the most 'modern' action/adventure genre game for any of the 8-bit Atari systems, and still manages to hold up as a playable game now, despite the simple graphics.

I am not sure about the Atari based graphics anymore, they just don't seem to grab my interest.
Can't you like make like a Metal Gear - NES, based tileset or something instead?? .. //
I am simply crazy for something of the nature like that.

Why do you keep trying to convince him to make a tileset of your favorite NES games? He's not making this tileset for you, so you not liking it isn't a good enough reason to start something completely different. If you'd rather see something else be made it would be more reasonable to do it yourself than to expect others to drop their current projects just because it isn't what you personally are looking for,

I should also note, that there is already an Atari 2600 tileset by XMSB.
I won't promise that it's accurate, but it is closer to what Zelda on the 2600 would have been like.
