Well, Heroin basically makes your brain go crazy with it's dopamin and serotonin causing a ridiculous amount of happy hormones being poured out at once which causes a feeling which has been discribed to be "100 to 1000 times greater than orgasm". I indeed do understand why people consume it. However, I'm quite sure I won't try it because you can in fact get hooked on first consumation and over the time your brain will loose much of it's ability to make you feel good without the drug, decreasing the potential and quality of happiness your body is able to experience in the long run.
I can't speak for heroin (though I've had two friends overdose on the crap), but I know cocaine does the same in terms of hooking you on the first go. A friend of mine tried it a while ago, and he described it as being the most amazing thing he had ever done, and now he's what I would call an addict. Which is really sad and needless to say I'm very worried about him
I think the moral of this story is that drugs
are bad. Not all drugs are though, but if one can manage to stay away from any of it, that is probably for the better. I say that as an avid user of marijuana, which of course isn't at all dangerous in any way shape or form (other than the smoke, seeing as inhaling
any kind of smoke is bad for your lungs), but again, while weed has been proven not to be a so-called 'gateway drug', some people can still get the idea that 'oh wow, if this is that good, imagine what cocaine will be like', and that is what's bad about it. Cliche I know; but safety first. If you (not you Thomas, people in general) are thinking about trying anything, make
sure to do
proper research first, because that research may very well end up saving your life. Which is good.
I think I've said enough about why I think drinking/smoking is fun though, and I don't think I need to elaborate any further. As I said earlier, it all comes down to what you think of as fun. If your idea of fun is to go out and drink with your buddies, awesome, but if your idea of fun is staying home and playing video games with your buddies, that's awesome too. Most importantly; these things can actually go hand-in-hand. And remember, you can still hang out at bars if you don't drink alcohol. They do usually serve soda as well, not to mention water. Getting drunk is not a requirement to have fun

So how does a cup of coffee compare to a simple bottle of beer? I'm guessing they're about the same as beer is to alcohol as coffee is to caffiene but in larger quantities, the effects of beer occur quicker than the effects of coffee. Is it accurate to say drinking 1-2 cups of coffee is equivalent to drinking 1-2 beers?
No, the effect is not at all comparable in any way shape or form
