Pokemon! Nowadays, Pokemon is the only series that really seems original. I like Terranigma and Chrono Trigger, though. Final Fantasy: I don't know, I just don't like it. (And they've had 13 generations whereas Pokemon only has 4.)

Pokemon is... original? 
They start you off with a fire, water, or grass, you get the Pokeballs, and then you have to beat the 8 gym leaders, and then the Elite 4. Also, bad guys show up around the middle and you take out their organization.
