If i submit a quest i use an "private quest file" unpassworded and one public with randomized password.

You could just create a key file. That way, your quest has a password, but you never have to enter it. No risk of accidentally submitting it unpassworded that way.

This place needs some excitement. Which is why I'm gonna drop the ball for those of you who don't know.

There is a program for retrieving quest passwords. I will not tell you where to find it, or if it can even be found. If you have it, use it with full knowledge of the consequences, and stress responsibility. I don't care what you do with the quests you have, but you better not start ripping people off.

It's not exactly news to us that zcrack exists, but it'll only retrieve passwords on pre-2.10 quests. There might be one that opens newer quests, but it won't spit out the password.

Before you download it though, think for a moment whether you trust someone who wrote a cracking program more than those who make ZC. I don't think it comes with malware, but I wouldn't try it myself. As a general rule, any "cracking" programs are high-risk.

As I said before: if you lose your own password, PM a developer. We can unlock quests.

To be realistic: no.

I'm sure if you have any specific questions about how some feature was made, Darkflamewolf and many others will be around to help you though.

If you do want to see inside an unpassworded quest, contact Shadowtiger for a quest named "Neofirst". It's not quite as long as Lost Isle and not entirely complete either I think, (eat me if I'm wrong) but it is unpassworded.

I'm sure there are people who would be more than glad to duplicate a simple procedure. Almost all of the tricks used in ZQuest have their only hard part in actually finding out how to do them. Once you know and are familiar with how to go about doing the trick, it's actually pretty easy and straightforward.

So if there's anything that you'd like to know, please ask. (Preferably in the ZQuest Help forum right beneath ZC Discussion.)

don't mean to necropost here but i'm trying to replay this quest that i made like 5 years ago

it had used the original game's audio but i can't remember what you'd need to name the audio file for it to work

figure if i could crack the password i could figure it out

If you're using 2.55 or later, the dev password is "amongus".
