I have a house in my quest set up like this: You enter Room A, which is an empty room, and go left to enter Room B, and the witch girl sells you a Blue Ring for 400 Rupees.

Room B has the Boss Room flag enabled.

Room A has the Boss Room flag enabled AND a Trigger enemy. It also has a line of Secret Tile flags (16) near the entrance to Room 1, a Secret Combo that switches to Direct Warp combos when activated, and the screen flag "Enemies->Secret" set.

When you step on the Direct Warps, you are moved to Room C, which is EXACTLY like Room A in appearance, but it doesn't have any of the things I mentioned in the above paragraph. It's just a normal room. (It has the same Side Warp as Room A to warp you out of the house.) Instead of going left to enter Room B, you enter Room D.

Room D is exactly like Room B, except it does not have a Boss flag, and instead of selling the Blue Ring, it sells a Lens of Truth for 600 Rupees, and a different string as well.

What this setup should do: Once you buy the Blue Ring from this shop and go back into the shop, it sells a Lens of Truth instead.

What happens instead: When you go into the shop after buying the Blue Ring, it gives you the right string message, but for some reason the item she's selling doesn't appear at all. It just shows the Rupee x on the left and no items whatsoever.

This is not good! NOT good! icon_augh.gif

Is this a bug, or did I screw up? Can anyone get this to work? Can anyone offer advice of any kind? I'm using Version 2.10 by the way. Any help at all would be appreciated, 'cause I'm at the end of my rope trying to get this feature to work, and I reeeeeally don't want to cancel it 'cause of a bug...

In the meantime, I'll be working frantically to get it to work to the best of my abilities. Again, thanks in advance. --Schwa

P.S. If I get it to work, you get screenshots as a reward. icon_biggrin.gif

ok if you walk up to were it is suppose to be do you get the item? If so try going to quest> item> the item in question then click default and see if that helps! If not I don't know. But it is worth a shot to see if it works!

........Okay... What I did was make the Lens of Truth shop type sell a Red Ring and an Amulet as well as the Lens, and tested it out. NOW when you go into the shop after buying the Blue Ring, she sells you the Red Ring and NOT the other two! What the eff!? icon_odd2.gif

It must be a bug. Cripes...

That DEFINITELY sounds like a bug. Is the item that works on the second shop the one in the same place as the Blue Ring in the first shop? You could try selling two hearts in addition to the Blue Ring, just to see what happens.

This is a known bug. Some shop times (maybe just one... 3, 4, or 5) are screwed. Just don't use them and you will be okay. Skip the '3', '4' and '5' shop types or switch to 2.10.2. This is the bugfix version of 2.10.

How do I know about this shop bug? Once I had the same problem and asked here. I was like you: promised a thing in return. The difference is that you promised screenshots and I promised a demo. icon_smile.gif I hope your screenshots will be better than those early demos of mine. icon_smile.gif

Switch to 2.10.2? I've thought about it many times, but I heard from somewhere that it's even more buggy than 2.10. If that's just a rumor, I'll be switching before you can say Dizzy Darknuts. Anyone care to confirm or disprove my suspicious demeanor?

As for a demo, I'm making one, but only my beta testers will be allowed to have it. The rest of you get screenshots, which I may or may not post in the Official Screenshots Thread (I'm using the PTUX tileset and version 2.10, and I don't want my quest to look inferior compared to all those super-fancy ones people seem to have going)...

What I really need is my own QPF, and I intend to fight for one.

But that day is later.

Much later.

Ebola Zaire, someday you and I will share a QPF together.

2.10.2 is NOT buggier than 2.10. In fact, the only difference between 2.10.2 and 2.10 is that 2.10.2 is a bugFIX version. So no, whoever told you that phails. icon_lol.gif JK, BTW.

If you really want a QPF, follow the link in my sig... the forum doesn't have very many members now, but then again, it was only started two days ago... icon_razz.gif

I downloaded 2.10.2, and sure enough, it has all these bugs that didn't exist before. In fact, on AGN I found a list of them that are to be fixed in 2.10.3, whenever that comes out. So for the time being, I'm sticking to the original 2.10 with the knowledge that the shop bug will be fixed by the time the quest is ready for people to start playing it. icon_smile.gif

I guess my problem is solved, then.
