I have a simple question to ask all of you who participate in SotW. Would you want me to have SotW every week. And after every four SotW, have SotM with a new SotW? Meaning that SotW 69 would be Sunday and so would be SotM.

While it might be a nice idea, something will have to be sacrificed for it.

I'm specifically talking about the front page display. If SoTW is running at the usual times still, then the SoTM winner will basically be left off.

I'm undecided at the moment at what I'll vote for due to this minor detail.

I would assume that the person who wins either the SSOTW or SSOTM would want their image to be displayed as long as possible. Having an SSOTM/W in the same week as the other would truncate the other to at least half the time it would normally be displayed. Compared to the other SSOTW'M's, that's just not fair.

Probably not that hard, but it would, in my opinion, take up too much space on the front page. It's more clean just to see that one image showing the winner of the last SOTW contest. With two images and stuff, you have to look to see which was week and which was month; kinda loses the at-a-glance feeling that we have now, which I think should stay.

I think that there should be SOTW every week. I think that the front page is the only problem though. I don't have an anwser to that problem. However, in my opinion I think it would be better to have SOTW every week.

It would be nice. The big thing I'd like to bring up is that Screenshot of the Week... well... isn't. It's officially three weeks out of every four, and then whenever it's delayed, it happens even less frequently. I'd rather have a guaranteed three-per-month and occasionally four.

Yes, the SOTM winner would lose a little, but hey, they already get a week of exposure... meaning, everybody who frequents this site will have seen it. As an alternative, you could post their name directly above or below the current SOTW winner, with congratulations and a link to their picture, rather than have it displayed.

I think this is also appropriate because SOTM is not an active competition. Everything's done and has been seen once; it's just voting and a round for "finalists." But again, the big reason I'd state is that SOTW doesn't usually happen 3 weeks our of every 4 without fail. (not including official hiatuses, of course)

I do have a suggestion. Mayeb the SOTM winner could have their image put on th efrom page too, right underneith the SOTW winner. It could be up there for the entire month, so it would get the entire months glory, instead of just the one week.

At first I said no, but I guess it wou;dn't be so bad. But it would also mean more SotM's too. I dunno,it just might get a bit confusing.

From the looks of it, we can easily fit in another table for a SotM. There's just enough space to move the Shoutbox and poll down to be on par with the bottom of the Stats. You could put it below SotW, and keep it for the whole month, Like HL suggested.

I also have another idea. While it doesn't directly relate to this, it's still kinda on topic I guess. Has anyone ever thoguht of a Screenshot of the Year? By that I mean take all the winners of each SotM's and face em' off against each other? Just something I wanted to throw out here for the 5 minutes I get to do everything for the whole weekend <_<

No. Besides the front page thing, you also have to remember that with 2, one will most likely be left behind the other, and most likely people will forget that there are both a SOTW and SOTM. So, which ever is second in the list won't get very many votes.

Well, yeah, I'm for this idea. We might be able to fit four SOTWs in one month, and at the first week of a month, that would be the previous month's SOTM -- for example, June's SOTM would be held on the first week of July. It'd be rather simple to label stuff like that. Plus, the more actual new screens we get to see (instead of old, repeated screens), the better.

The front page thing is kind of an issue... here's a weird idea, though. It could alternate each time you load the page -- and at the top it'd say "Screenshot of the Month winner:" or "Screenshot of the Week winner:". Yaeh, just a random idea I had. Probably wouldn't work out in the end, though.

I had thought of that too, but I guess WildBill has the final word, since he's the one that designs the site. It would be helpful if we could get word from him and find out whether having both at once is something he would allow.

So, what has become of this? Are we going to have an SotW and SotM at the same time?

I'd say no, because of the shot display on the front page, and entries of 5 or 6 or whatever may get confusing on SotM. I'd say it's fine as it is.

No as of right now. I would have said yes to it if the "yes" votes had 75 percent or higher.
