Hello. Eviljbrian here, working on my Lets Play series for the Wrath and Longing of Nemel. The series could get long, but it's a process in the works, and some of my videos can reach an hour and a half long, mostly due to repeated deaths and frustration.

While it is a Lets Play series, I am joined by my brother Nighthreat in the adventure, as he loves to see me tormented, and we'll also talk about many other things.

Through the course of the adventure, I may come across places where I get stuck or need a little bit of a hint to get through. Please, feel free to PM me what I'm doing wrong and where I should be heading as well. I'm doing this completely blind and I make about 2 videos per week.

Current status: Complete!

Passive Inventory - Raft, Book, Gold Armor, Ladder, Master Key, Power Glove, Mirror Shield, Red Wallet (999), Magic Cross, Iron Boots

It will be in one of my vids if I do find it. Right now I'm more concerned with finishing dungeon 4 and if what I read of the VERY few postings done about this particular quest, I'm going to want to find the Hammer and Hookshot before I go off to the islands and Level 5.

Uploaded now.

Next video coming soon. Was almost done with the recording process and the power went out while I was doing so, after I had finished Dungeon 4 and explored some of the mystic islands.

Would like to know, is there anything I should have before heading to the Islands? I read somewhere that I should have the hookshot and hammer before going there, but unsure.

Also, PM me the secret of the Lost Desert, or if I can even get through there yet or if I have to find a passage in the caves to the northern area.

Eviljbrian, I encourage you to review the rules regarding consecutive posting. I'd consider this a post made "solely to bump a topic."

On topic, I'll check out your let's play when I get the chance. It's always interesting to see how another person plays a quest.

Hey Eviljbrian. icon_smile.gif

I wanted to say that I honestly feel like yours are honestly some of the more interesting ZC LPs that I've seen. You do quite a bit of stuff right with it in my opinion. One critical thing that you do right is, well, you actually have someone else there. And I think that goes a long way. It really, truly does. When you don't have something to say, your brother hops in to fill those caps. Also, you don't focus on the quest entirely. You talk about other stuff, and that just makes it much more appealing to me. Obviously there are lulls in stuff going on, and there's just not much to talk about as far as the actual quest goes. So just talking about other stuff is a nice way to mix things up.

That being said, I do have a couple of suggestions for you. icon_smile.gif
  • I think there are times when you avoid talking about the quest too much. There was one video (maybe the second) where it took you about 7 minutes to actually start getting into real talk about the quest. This isn't a real problem or anything. You just may want to think about this a bit more.
  • This is just be me being picky, but what software do you use for recording? I feel like it's a bit low quality, and you may be able to do some testing with other software to get a better video quality.

Again, I'm really impressed with these and found them enjoyable. icon_thumbsup.gif I'll probably use them as background noise and watching while doing stuff. Consider me a fan who will be keeping up with your stuff from now on. I'll also let you know of any other comments or suggestions I may have about your works.

I would like to thank you for your compliment and your input, it's really appreciated. Having someone else here does help since just playing the quest and describing what I'm doing all the time kinda gets boring, plus Nighthreat has pointed things out to me that I seem to have overlooked. I have gotten compliments about talking about other stuff other than the quest too, and it's a trend that I think I'll continue.

Now as far as your suggestions:
I'll try to talk about the quest a little more should I need to, but as I play it I tend to concentrate a good bit trying to play it, even though my anger gets the best of me sometimes in these quests. I'll see what I can do about at least talking a little bit about the quest though.

As far as the software I use, I used Debut Video Capture Software. So far I like it better than some of the other ones. If anyone remembers my LP of Souls of Wisdom, my trial of Debut ran out and I used CamStudio, but after I got done recording and while it was processing the video, it decided to die out on me and give me nothing but sound in return. And I've tried Fraps once before but I didn't like it too much since last time I used it, it causes lag. So unless there's something better than Debut, I'll stick with that.

HOWEVER if I can manage to get little over 100 dollars, I do plan on getting the Roxio Game Capture device so I can do console games as well. I'd like to try the software for that, see how it is and how it works and all that.

I do think the quality drops a bit when I run the video through the Any Video Converter program I have to convert it from AVI to a more manageable MP4, so that may have something to do with it, but the wizzrobes that are there but doesn't look like it's there until they fire their magic, I think that's a problem with either ZC or the quest.

Although in my opinion it's not so much the video quality that's hindered, but the audio quality. The cracking every now and then can be annoying and near ear-splitting, and for that I apologize since I use a basic desktop microphone and couldn't figure out how to get a good volume of our voices without that happening, so any suggestion would be appreciated.

I do thank you for your comments and please, keep watching. Eventually I'd like to do another series for games from the 80's that I'd like to call Retro Rewind. Mainly games from NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis so far, and was thinking of playing Crystalis for the first one, but I'm not too sure. I have a small list of NES and SNES games I'd like to do for that, and the games can be a bit lengthy as well, but some are my favorites.

Finally finished! IT's not a 100% play through as I'm missing 9 Heart Pieces, and not sure if there's hidden items I missed too, but at long last, the Wrath and Longing of Nemel has been completed for this video series.

Going to take some time off to wipe my computer's drive clean before I start anew with a new quest.

Over all rating, 9/10. WONDERFUL challenge, quite frusterating, and maybe a little guidance here and there, but overall not a bad quest for it being as old as it is. Certainly a must play.

Will return for suggestions for my next LP. Something challenging but new while I await Souls of Wisdom 2.

btw:: WTF is the song in Dungeon 9? I know it from somewhere but I can't for the life of me figure it out and it's driving me crazy! I'm sure it's from one of the Final Fantasy games, but not sure, so can someone please tell me what the song is and where it's from? lol.
