I just saw Exate's Pure Subscreen Vines on the database. I was wonder how is it used in Subscreens? Can I see a screenie using these tiles?

The name is misleading. They can really be used for anything... Exate was just referring to the fact that they were edited from BS's subscreen vines. You could really use them any way you feel like... I'm not sure how they were used in BS.

Actually, I'm not so sure Ebola, there is a sprite in weapons/Misc. that says 'subscreen vines'. Does anyone know what it is for?

Although I'm not Valerie(who could give you the real answer since she's played around with the real BS Zelda), I'm pretty sure they're used for the "real" BS Subscreen, but on the other hand, it may be an alternative for the vines that go around the story at the title, but that would be weird as well.

Why do they need their own MISC. sprite though?

Try plugging them into that and seeing what happens.

This is BS Zelda's subscreen. I took a snapshot a few years back when I played the ROM. Pardon the quality, I was still using jpgs back then.

At the top, you can see the vines.

I still don't see why they need their own Misc. sprite though, you could just place them in as a tile block.

Well, custom subscreens is a recent feature and not everyone wants to use beta's and make subscreens.
So I guess it's the retro way of doing it.

Ahhhh! It's an old feature that they haven't taken out!
