I made this poll in chat and it was SMRPG for the unanimous vote. (though somebody voted for TTYD after the poll was closed icon_unsettled.gif ) I decided it was time to make it a poll for the forums.

I picked SMRPG. It's just an amazing game, and one of the best games ever, IMO. It has a great story, good battle system, and some really memorable music. icon_kawaii.gif One of the first, and one of the best. icon_biggrin.gif

EDIT: This does not include handhelds.

On purpose, that was. icon_razz.gif

Too late. I already edited them in for ye. icon_razz.gif

My vote still goes to SMRPG regardless. I have played and beaten the N64 Paper Mario, but it wasn't my favorite. And I didn't like Mario & Luigi 1 at all.

Well, k. icon_razz.gif

But I still would've voted SMRPG. icon_blah.gif

There's really no sense in dividing the games into console and handheld anyway. The only difference is the size of the system. GBA is roughly the equivilent of SNES, and DS = N64.

Same here. Mario and Luigi did bring something new to the table with a more active battle system (dodging attacks via jumping and possibly counterattacking via their hammers). However, I felt SMRPG had that certain feel to it that I probably only got from that and Paper Mario. I guess I just enjoy it more. icon_shrug.gif

Sharon: The power of the handhelds seem to be more "between consoles" than consoles, themselves. I felt GBA was between SNES and N64 (in game size) and the DS between N64 and Gamecube (also in game size).

*notes Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS*
*also notes Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart DS* - actually, that may be a bit more than graphics. What I do know is MK64's racers were flat, while MKDS's racers were actual 3-dimensional objects.

The first one of course. SMRPG is what I found to be the most fun.

*notes Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS*.

SM64DS was quite pixelated while Super Mario 64 was smooth but the sprites were of lower quality.
And Super Paper Mario isn't an RPG. It is a platformer that has HP instead of hearts.

Game size. Not graphics. I need to measure the size of an average N64 game and compare to the size of a DS game, though.

Paper Mario'd.

Though I've never actually played SMRPG. That would probably win my vote.

If SMRPG wasn't on the poll, I would've picked Paper Mario. Great game... icon_biggrin.gif

I went with PM:TTYD. The design of it was flawless. The plot kept me guessing for much of the game. The battle system is amazing, as is the freakin' number of different action commands. Enough to just beat out SMRPG for my vote. Meh.
