HUZZAH! Here it is.

You can discuss the demo here, but please also leave a review on the demo page. Once I have enough feedback, I'll upload a revised version that fixes any bugs I missed the first time around.

The temples in the demo are well designed, and I could usually work out what to do, with the exception of the bombable block in the fire temple

There were also a couple of bugs I found in the quest:

 

Using shadow charge on enemies then touching the edge of the screen can freeze the character in place, requiring use of F6 to escape.
 
Didn't get any spells when obtaining the fire element (when used, nothing happens until the second spell is bought, at that point the item is only usable when charged, and fires the second spell).
 
Pedestals can be revisited and will continue to increase character mana when stepped on.
 
While not technically a bug, the 'Bomb the block' part in the fire level is unintuitive and I only discovered it by accident with the second fire spell (I got past the trees with a clipping glitch in the zc engine).
 
Wind bats in air temple make damage sounds when hit by hookshot, but are not stunned/damaged.
 
Hurricane spinning into a pit/lava pool will cause your sword to remain in place and the sword item to be unusable until the screen is left, even if the armour is changed (Happened in the wind temple boss, and had to defeat it with only the bow).
 
Running out of bombs/arrows when the * symbol is shown in the counter boxes after buying the mystery item (probably a bug with scripted items not responding to the infinite quiver/bombbag.
 
The deku-like things in the forest area of the first temple will suck in the hookshot, causing interesting graphical glitches.

  • Phantom Dash edge stuck: That happens while you're going off the edge while touching an enemy. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why that happens in the code... Anyway, I'll keep working on it.
  • No spells: Fixed.
  • Revisiting pedestals: Oops, good catch! Fixed.
  • Wind bat vs. hookshot: They now take damage from power 0 weapons.
  • Hurricane into pit/lava: I tried that and it didn't happen to me. Strange.
  • Mystery item: Ha! Priceless! The "mystery item" is an un-implemented spell that currently gives you item #0 (1 Rupee). And guess what item makes the subscreen counters display infinity by default? Anyway, for now I'd just say please don't buy that. I'm not ever going to add an infinite quiver or bomb bag to the game so eventually it won't matter.
  • Vacuum mouth vs. hookshot: Eh, I think it's fine.
  • Other: Increased boss' HP from 60 to 80 to make him less pitifully easy against Solaris.

Note: I haven't uploaded the update yet. I will after I get some more feedback so I don't have to go to the trouble of copying all the new stuff into the demo (which has that extra hub room and stuff) multiple times.

I haven't gotten to complete it yet, since in Aeol Monastery, I think i'm missing a key or something. Why? I have gotten all the way to before what seems the mini boss room, and I don't see a way to explore the east wing yet... Anybody know what i might be missing?

You can get to the east wing across the gap.

 

It is possible to cross that gap, with a little help.

Duh! I'm so stupid :P Thanks MM! Now that I have completed your demo, I can give my critic review, er, just my bug foundings:

Just so you know, I wanted to let you know about these flaws so it could help you make your quest look more professional than it's already looking :) (Some might be pointless, but the heck :lol: )

 

I'll try to give a great review on the corresponding forum for such an excellent demo. Bravo  :clap:

Thanks for pointing those out!

 

1. Ah, gotta love ZC continue points. I don't know if there's anything I can do about that.

 

2/3. Oops, forgot to point those at the demo hub room instead of the real (final) dungeon entrances. Also the MIDI is called "dark overworld" (or was it "ruined overworld"?) from the PZC database.

 

4. I'm just too lazy to replace those copy/pasted sprites. I will eventually.

 

5. Fixed.

 

P.S. I was wondering if the part you were stuck on was too obtuse. Did anyone else have (too much) trouble with it?

 

P.P.S. The story will make much more sense in the next demo, which will start the game from the beginning (ending with the current content). That's not to say it won't still be mysterious, though.

No problem! As for the part I was stuck on, I'm pretty sure you could give a small hint, I dunno, kinda like a sign with "Use your enemies weapons to your advantage", although I'm not sure if it was something REALLY not clear enough (probably just me :lol: )
