I can't even take credit for the mountain style. I give DarkFlameWolf full credit. I started developing this approach after spending a lot of time studying and understanding what made her screens so great and I feel it's her approach is what makes her unique.
I feel many people tend to start overworld screens by looking at it like a flat surface and building up. What I learned from studying DFW's style and something I try to emulate with all my screen design is seeing screens as a 3 dimensional block you can cut into like butter, kinda like how the river on the east almost feels like it cuts into the land. DFW's style taught me to build with a "cut-into" approach rather than a "build-up" approach.
A long time ago, Demonlink who felt impressed with how I designed screens in Souls of Wisdom 2 asked me for some advise. I pretty much told him what I am sharing here, and he's since went on to make some of the best screens for SotW the following 2 or 3 years that I've ever seen.
So ya, I give DarkFlameWolf full credit for inspiration.
