Let's do a bit of interactive fiction: The Web of TIme

For every event in history, there is a mote of essence, and these motes connect to one-another, forming a web of causality. Change one mote, and the strands connecting to each-other reconfigure to form a new pattern.

The premise: Choose an event in history, that you would want to change, and specify how you would change it. I, or others, will respond, with the outcome, as well as any widespread changes caused by your disruption to the web; whether good or ill.

From there, others may either make other changes to your new timeline, or make changes to the original timeline, making new, branching realities. Storymasters, will respond with the result of these, and so forth, to utter chaos, or perfect harmony.

Important Rule: Only one change is allowed at a time. You can specify details for what you would like to do, or specify a more general change. Use your imagination.

If altering the original timeline, make a new post describing the event, and your alteration.

If altering an already-changed timeline, quote the last version of it, and describe your alteration.

so thats why there's been earthquakes in the Los Angelas area lately.

The Earthquakes cause a lucky man named Jimmy Johnson to find a winning lottery ticket.

I should note that there really were a lot of earthquakes here. I felt at least five.

The Earthquakes cause a lucky man named Jimmy Johnson to find a winning lottery ticket.

Jimmy Johnson may be running out of luck, as he seems to be stick in Compton, due to an overpass collapsing on his way to claim the funds.

---

Side note: I didn't expect Cheerios to be the first nexus point, as I was expecting more, err, historical events to be changed, instead of hysterical events, but this works too. Feel free to use more than one line to describe outcomes; this is all about creative, interactive storytelling. :)

----

Other side note: I have a mate in Los Angeles, that wakes up every morning, and before doing anything else, checks the USGS; as he has a phobia of quakes, and a suitable matching phobia of relocating elsewhere. I've been there a few times, but never during any major disturbance, although I vividly remember watching the telecast of the bigger quakes years back. 'Tisn;t something I would try to think about, if I was living there. :/

I did work on an excavation after the floods and fires--what was that, 1990?--to recover fossils exposed in the sides of Topanga Canyon, and brought out cases of sedimentary shale that was just littered with nautilus arthropods. My last visit to the Pacific US Coast was like going to another world, as it had changed so much in fifteen-ish years. Luckily, Canter's was still around for me.

Anyhow, I am much more worried over this type of quake:
