Hey everyone! It's been a minute. Quest Club took a short hiatus to collect feedback from the community and restructure. With that in mind, we're happy to announce the following changes.
Quest Selection
The first is in how quests are selected. Previously, quests were rolled randomly from a pool of 20 (5 quests from each curator) each time. Community submissions were reviewed by the curators, who had the option of adding the quest to their list of 5. While this seemed like a good system, the RNG seemed to be very biased towards certain curators, despite Ether's attempts at rigging it against those curators. Additionally, community members felt the method of highlighting community picks, via curators, was too indirect. In light of all of this, we're moving towards a new system.
Quest Club will now follow a five-quest rotation (each rotation lasting 2 and a half months, about 2 weeks per quest). In each rotation, we will pick one quest from each curator, plus one quest from the master list of community-submitted quests. Typically, at the start of each rotation, we'll randomize what order we move through the curators and community pool. For this first rotation, however, we're going to manually set the order so that we can highlight Haylee's picks, as she has not had a quest rolled from her pool yet, as well as the community list. So with that in mind, the ordering for the first rotation will be as follows:
1. Haylee
2. Community
3. Deedee
4. SofaKing
5. Russ
I'll be randomizing a quest from Haylee's list and putting it up shortly after this post goes live.
Quest Club Staff
We also want to announce a few changes to the staff. The big change is that Ether has decided to step down from her position of running Quest Club. To fill the role she's leaving behind, Haylee and I will be stepping up to co-run Quest Club. The curators will remain the same.
Other Notes
We know that two weeks isn't enough for everyone to play through a quest, so we want to remind people that they're by no means limited to the two week period to play or discuss the chosen quests. SofaKing has notably commented on some quests in their discussion threads after the fact, and I myself plan to finish playing through Eiyuu and discuss my thoughts, even though we're well past the two week window. The goal of Quest Club is to get the community playing quests and discussing them. Don't let the schedule constrain you!
Lastly, we wanted to say thank you to everyone who's participated in Quest Club so far! Community engagement is at the heart of this project, and we're grateful to all of you for being a part of our community here.
