Hello ZCers! ChefBear and I are excited to announce the heralding of the first ZC Speedrunning Contest!
And the first quest to be chosen for this contest is: In the Lost Kingdom of the Banana Blood God! We figure this quest is perfect for this contest because it isn't too long, and has some great movement tech.
The speedrun category will be Any% Finnigan, which means that the only requirement is to beat the game as Finnigan! Timing begins when the file select screen closes after confirming the quest, and ends on full fadeout after the last hit on Kumakuma. I recommend using LiveSplit for timing your runs!
So how do you win? By having the most points when the contest ends! There will be two ways to earn points. First, by submitting one of the fastest runs! 1st place will score 10 points, 2nd will score 5, and 3rd will score 2. Second, by discovering and sharing timesaving tricks and glitches! Any such trick or glitch discovered will be awarded 1 base point, and an additional point will be added for every 5s it saves, up to a maximum of 5 points!
Contestants will be given 3 weeks starting today to submit runs, and so the contest will end 12am EST February 3rd! 3 weeks should give contestants enough time to replay the quest, make a route, and do runs. If you are interested in participating, be sure to join the ZC speedrun discord where we will discuss strats, submit runs, and keep track of the competition. Contestants can work together or on their own, it's up to you!
