I was expecting these tomorrow, but boy am I impressed I'm looking at the orange ones right now, and these do top all you're other work. I LOVE THEM! You can take a break for a week now you deserve it. icon_wink.gif

That's what I meant when I said "the entrance to Death Valley." icon_smile.gif I realize it's primarily a passageway to the southeastern region, but I see it as a sort of "Brush With Death Valley." icon_razz.gif (cue faint groaning)

The Fokkerus are still my favorite -- I dunno, I seem to have a thing for the weird, intimidating Great Palace enemies -- but these Lizalfos are good too. icon_smile.gif Hmmm, the spears animate differently from the swords; they thrust instead of slash. Does that mean they will be functionally different from Ironknuckles, rather than just more difficult/dangerous?...

So hey, I wanted to do something to thank you for letting me edit your enemies. Many of my tiles are questionably useful in a Classic style quest, as editing them into Classic style would require too much "backtracking." But the Bubbles are a different story. So I whipped this up for you. I hope it will be useful:

As I'm sure you can tell, the first row is a regular Z2 Bubble, while the second row is a "Great" Bubble (at least that's what I call it; the game apparently doesn't name them). I colored them into the orange/red CSet that I found in the Lizalfos sprites, since there seemed to be plenty of colors, but obviously, you can recolor them however you want. You could even use 8-bit mode and recolor them to simulate the color-cycling that the original invariably must have used.

Why are there two sets of each enemy? Well, the first two rows are slightly rounded-off. You see, the original Z2 Bubbles seemed a little... well... octagonal. I wanted them to be more circular, so I edited them slightly.

But if you are a hardcore purist and want them to be as CLOSE to the originals as possible, rip the second two rows instead. As you might expect, the regular Bubble in the third row is pretty much unchanged from the original except for the colors. The only other change I made was that the tiles use a near-black outline color. The original used the transparency color for the lines, but that felt a little too "ghetto" to me. icon_razz.gif

I'm actually using the exact Great Bubble sprites except with black outlines but perhaps I could have it spilt into those smaller versions you made. Actually I think I'll do just that. icon_wink.gif

Oh, are you scripting larger Bubbles?... I never imagined you would do that since all your other enemies are smaller, but okay, go ahead. icon_smile.gif Hopefully these will look just fine next to the originals, since I based them very closely on them.

Yeah I have a script that makes a bubble larger "2 tiles, but only 24 pixels" and offsets it accordingly. "+4 pixels"

Cool! icon_smile.gif So their hitbox remains the same; they just display a little larger?...

Since you are having them behave differently from the original game now, do you think you will have them split after just one hit, or a few hits, or many many hits?...

Nope the hit box is also scaled and positioned to fit the enemies new extended sprite. And it takes many hits to defeat a king bubble. Probably about 16. Which happens to be the same amount it takes to defeat darklink, since making it any more then that would be way too hard.
