So I'm going to be presenting a presentation in front of 200 students at my school tomorrow morning ._.
I dunno if I should be excited or worried? But whatever, I won't be talking for long thankfully...

Heh heh heh...
It's basically like that for most schools over here in the UK.
But yeah, @Adam, I could probably try that. I am quite a humourous person according to a lot of kids in my school, so maybe it won't be so bad...

Ugh, I'm getting sick of these damn telemarketers. Every few days, I get a call from some place in Florida trying to sell me vacation time or something. At first, all I did was say I wasn't interested. A day later, I flat out said "Not falling for your scam" and hung up. This time, I answered and demanded them to stop calling me. I'm half tempted to curse them out next time. Doesn't help my mother had to put me in a bad mood...AGAIN. I'm sorry you guys, but I'm so pissed off right now I'm about to wig out on someone or something if even the slightest thing gets on my nerves.
EDIT: I wanted to apologize for my rant earlier. Just a bunch of things happened all at once to kill my mood. So yeah.

I dislike telemarketers because often when they call it's because somehow marketing/advertisers got my information and likely sold it.
Signing up for college information itself is an easy way for this to happen, I had to deal with that crap.. but not anymore.
next time just dont answer? Or do what I do, dont pick up numbers you dont know unless you expect an unknown number calling.
Perhaps you should just turn up loud porn on your end of the phone and play it until the other lines stop.

I never liked public speaking. I'm socially awkward. They won't catch me alive.

So, did my thing yesterday, only read for like 2 mins ![]()
But yeah it ended well. I now have the power to exclude anybody from my school, so there's that.

These days, I'm fine with public speaking, as long as I know what I am talking about. I don't like the idea of memorizing things word for word. I'd rather have an outline of all the topics I wish to discuss. Understanding > Memorization.

I personally use little note cards with key cards or short phrases when I give presentations. Sometimes I throw in a bit of humor or have a change in pitch and tone of my voice. Another tip for speaking is to keep it interactive. If you're just standing there going "Blah blah blah", you're going to make people fall asleep. Involve your audience. Try saying something like "By a show of hands, how many people feel this way?". Then again, at my college, they pretty much dinged you for EVERY little mistake. Every time your eyes are not on the audience and on the SmartBoard? Goodbye points. Every time you said "Uh", "Um" or "Okay"? You lose points. Don't move around much? You lose points. Then again, the one professor was VERY strict with her judging and it was extremely hard to please her. Naturally, she can say um, uh and okay all she wants during lecture time, but don't YOU dare use those words while giving a presentation!

Sounds like her expectations for you were higher than they are for herself, or she just needed to come up with some sort of rubric as a means of scoring, and that is what she came up with. Of course, you are preparing for one presentation, while she has to make them all the time. Not that I would teach people how to speak in public, but if I did, I'd probably take a more holistic approach, with general guidelines for what would be an A, B, C, D, or F. I find that it often doesn't work out very well when you quantify little details such as how often the person says "like" or "um". It's impossible to look at the audience all of the time, unless you are just lecturing or giving a speech without using any devices (including any type of board), and not looking at any notes. I tend to move around a lot, but I have a bad habit of doing this slow walk of pacing (although it doesn't sound that bad when I say it that way). I have kicked plenty of chairs too, being so unparanoid of the objects around me, but I do like to have a generous amount of empty space around me in the front of the room. Anyway, I don't think guidelines that focus a lot on very specific details is the way to go, but rather a view of the overall performance.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I really don't mind public speaking, so long as the topic interests me. I'm normally a pretty shy guy, but when I get up in front of people and start talking about stuff I'm interested in, boy do I get animated. I think I startled my bio class last year by how different I was when presenting than when just talking normally. It sure got a kick out of everybody (professor included), which helped with the grading.

My knee felt pretty the other day, I guess I re-injured my knee, so instead of using a heating pad I'm going with ice.
With my knee messed up its so hard to walk around... and getting into my car is a pain that's for sure.

- squirt gun/liquid pump sprayer
. three parts of glowstick liquid
. one part urine
. half a part of sugar
combine. shoot at anything you want sticky with justice

So, I just received a letter from my school an hour ago. And I got this:
"There have been some dramatic changes to the GCSE syllabus and under government guidelines it is no longer viable to sit exams early."
and this:
"Your child will sit both English Language and Literature exams in 2015"
And I gotta comment on this:
"exams in 2015"
"2015"
I'm pretty sure most of you on here are pretty unaware of the GCSE examinations, since that's a British thing. GCSE basically means "General Certificate of Secondary Education", and I was SUPPOSED to take these exams this year in May as well as Controlled Assessments which were part of the final English grade/English exams. It seems the government has managed to shift the exam dates by one extra year, as well as Controlled Assessments which followed on. Because of that, the preparation for the next Controlled Assessment coming really soon is now worthless, because I now need to wait a full year in order to actually take these exams and assessments, and by that time, I would not have remembered what I was preparing now, meaning I'll have to prepare again when the time comes.
That kinda got me pissed off since, after all this preparation, I now need to wait a full year in order to take the exams. So, I guess I'll probably have to start doing all these preparations again next year -_-
Oh well, there is at least one good thing for all this. I get a longer time to sharpen my skills with English Literature and Language, so I guess I can practice more with answering examination-style questions and probably bump my grades up a bit too. But I'm still kinda annoyed that they just suddenly decided to shift the exams by one year.
(btw, sorry for the long rant comment. I kinda wanted to get that off my chest)
ANYWAY, weather's getting normal over here. We're getting the usual British spring weather, so that's always a good sign for the summer!
