I kinda felt that the wall jumps in Zero Mission were a lot easier than in Super Metroid, almost as if the grace period to wall jump was far more lenient. In Super Metroid, I can't wall jump for anything.
This, very much this! Wall jumps are vastly easier to perform in Fusion and Zero Mission with Zero Mission retaining the "single wall" wall jump mechanism from Super Metroid while Fusion tried to prevent you from doing so.

Also I much prefer Speed Booster being a passive ability to an active one and yeah I found several speed booster puzzles that are just impossible for me to perform, they're just out of my league, I don't hate the game for it though (Not much) as its just content aimed at better players icon_smile.gif

I also prefer the missile, super missile/power bomb selection method used in the GBA games over Super Metroids awful one that required you to always complete a cycle of your entire inventory should you want to use an earlier item in your inventory or overshot the item you wanted to use. Super Metroid is just spamming Select half the time. With modern controllers you have 4 shoulder buttons so you can still retain the ability to aim diagonally with them!

Again not playing much. Still playing L.A Noire, great game so far.

But right now on a side venture I'm going to be picking up a mic this weekend and I'm going try doing a Lets play of something.
I found some decent screen casting software that can be used to record the desktop and programs.
By decent I mean free and works great.

You can find it here if your curios http://obsproject.com/

I've beaten the first Gym, and, while I like the game so far, I'm really not getting the enormous amount of praise it's gotten, and all the claims that it's OMG SO DIFFERENT!!! I guess Imma just have to keep playing!

Well it's not really different. You're still gonna go through eight gyms and all. The thing is, the game has a greater focus on the story, becoming pretty much purely story driven at the end, with the gyms kind of being relegated to the "Oh, I got 10 minutes to spare, and there's a gym right here, so why not go for it?" That said, it does start out pretty normal; the story doesn't become really important til about half way through.

And even then, it's still heinously negligible.

Also, Russ and I got the "Guardin' Gnome" achievement in Left 4 Dead 2. Fortunately, it wasn't as difficult as expected. Especially because of the coaster. But somehow we got through that the first time alive. Coach died but who cares about the AI, especially if they respawn anyway.

I'd like to point out that at one point, a Hunter jumped at me, and I batted him out of midair with the gnome, then chased him and beat him to death with it. It was probably the most satisfying thing I've ever done in the game. Clubbing the Smoker with it was also fun, but he and the other Hunter just weren't the same.

Yeah that achievement was fun. I imagine the teamwork aspect makes it considerably easier to get than the similar achievement in Half Life 2 Episode 2...

Started Metroid Fusion yesterday, got to some boss called Nightmare today that I cannot for the life of me figure out how to beat. 11 Tanks and 20 tries, still not even close to completing it. I've gotten through the first two phases without getting hit, then it gets to the phase where it goes around in circles constantly hitting me for half a tank of damage each time. During that I can't get near it's face to even shoot it and Space Jump randomly craps out most of the time so I can't even evade properly.

With that said, I'm liking Fusion even less than Zero Mission. Enemies do too much damage (a few common enemies that fill a room do nearly a tank of damage per hit and some smaller and weaker ones do half a tank), there are stupid chase scenes that really don't make sense (Oh look, an evil Samus that can shoot through walls and deal 2 TANKS of damage per hit.) And it takes centuries to refill your health if you don't have a recharge station nearby.

(I don't believe there is any chance I'm playing on a Hard setting either, this really feels like it's on Hard still, but the game never asked me to select a difficulty)

So yeah, guess these games aren't as great as I've heard.

You're playing a 2D Metroid game and not expecting it to be difficult? icon_razz.gif

As for Nightmare, you should be able to hang from the left wall and fire at him from there. If you've been doing that, then I'm not sure what your problem is. icon_odd.gif

I got through Super Metroid and Metroid II with no problems. And my issue with Zero Mission was just with Speed Boost, not anything with the difficulty. So it's a first to me.

The first two phases that works, but once the mask is off, he just follows me wherever I go. There's nowhere safe I can stand or move to. I can sometimes evade with the Space Jump, but the timing on when you have to press A I can never get right.

I haven't played that game in so long that I can't fully recall what to do there. Wish I could be of more help. icon_unsettled.gif

I'd suggest you practice with the space jump a bit. I always did circles around him to be ahead of his tracking, and would pop a charge shot off in midair. Pretty much what MeccaPrime is doing here, really.

Been playing Super Mario Star Road, and just finished with the first Bowser Key level. I'm really liking this game, it's designed with the perfect difficulty balance so that you're not tempted to use save states at all. Any death that occurs naturally feels as though it's your fault and you can see exactly what you did wrong, rather than feeling like the game itself is always out to get you.

I am using a video walkthrough, though, to help me see where to go for some of the more vague stars. (You try figuring out stars like "The Other Entrance" by yourself. I didn't realize the nature of the puzzle and spent forever searching for a hidden entrance on a building) I like seeing the settings used for each area, as most of them are ones that haven't really been done too often in Mario games, but I'm not a fan of the open-area scavenger-hunt levels. I get bored with traveling the same ground so many times. I normally prefer ones like Super Mario Galaxy where you're re-entering the level but going in a completely different direction and seeing all new sights for each star.

I know it would shorten the game, but I'd like to see a Mario 64 hack where there's only about three stars per world, but a full regiment of worlds. Get to see all the settings and sights, the fewer number of stars means less backtracking and the levels have more room for unique paths and features. I would love to make one of these myself, and have thought up settings and levels and such, but I'm not very good at SketchUp and would need somebody to help with modeling levels and sizing things out properly.

Sleeping Dogs or Saint's Row: The Third? Which game should I play first?

I'm in the final dungeon in Persona 4: Golden. I acquired the hardest trophy in the game: Hardcore Risette Fan. This might be a game I will actually try to go for a Platinum Trophy.

I've heard nearly nothing but good things about Sleeping Dogs. Go with that one.

Cleared Persona 4 Golden

My clear time

This is a BEARY awesome game! This is the best game on the Vita hands down. Definitely worth picking up a Vita for. It's hard to believe ATLUS can take an already awesome game and making it even more awesome!

Finished up all the Miracle Mask puzzles and mini-games, as well as obtained all the items for the collection. I loved the robot mini-game. Favourite in the series for me, with the shop display one coming in 2nd. All that leaves me are the daily puzzles, but those aren't all available yet. I picked at a few of the easier ones, and they're quite a bit of fun. Though I'll do those on an off-and-on basis, unlike how I did the rest of the series. (Which was one straight marathon.)

But with that done, I'm going back to Super Mario 3D Land. It's been awhile since I last played it, and I don't quite recall where I was last. ._.
