Got a bug in Volcano Island.

user posted image

The screenshot shows Link stuck & can't get out of the water in that area.

I am missing one key to the boss key in Lvl 8. I fogot which dungeon (Lvl 1 to 7) I am missing the extra key.
It seems the extra keys are not serving a good function at this point. It would be more effective to just get keys in each dungeon, rather than waste time trying to backtrack to get that extra key.

DFW put in the extra key for a couple reasons.
- To make all the previous levels required to beat Level 8
- In case the player accidentally got stuck without a key or something

The missing key could honestly be anywhere if you don't know which levels you haven't gotten it. I kept track of levels where I was missing the extra key so I could go back and get it later, and that worked well. icon_shrug.gif

Still seems like a waste of time to backtrack extra keys.
Master Dome is really amazing but I hate the room with the wind wizzrobes. I been spending hours trying to clear them but managed to clear the first two rooms, the third room remains uncleared yet. In this room, it seems I can't kill the wind wizzrobes as they seem to remain at a constant 6.

you manage to find the oddest bugs, I tried to replicate that bug at volcano island, but couldn't. Not sure how you did it. As for the extra keys, I knew at least one person would complain about the backtracking. But from a design point of view, with it all being non-linear, I 'HAD' to do it this way. Because I didn't want any players stuck in this quest. Sorry about the backtracking, but it was a necessary evil to make the quest playable for players who like to get themselves stuck with keys.

I mean you don't see the point of my argument, how can players get stuck if all necessary keys are found in the dungeon hehe? Yes I picked up all kind of weird bugs as I like exploring in the weirdest places hehehe icon_freak.gif

Anyway I went ahead to clear Lvl 8 but end up in somewhere strange with ??? & I went to the W***m*** & defeated Ganon? I thought I'm supposed to clear the Master Dome & Isle of the Wind.

If you beat Ganon, you should understand everything. Didn't the fairy appear?

Hehe I didn't defeat Ganon yet...just saw him & accidentally quit...I assumed he will be defeated....
Will replay later again.

Anyway here's another bug.

leave it to Ielen to ruin a nice surprise for many people. icon_wink.gif

EDIT: that sounds like a controller issue Ielen.

Ielen, as for your issue, I have the same problem with my keyboard..

If you're stuck going up, for example, press up. You'll be able to move again after you do.

Seriously ... this has got to be the best quest I've played so far. Everything is well-done ... well thinked ... and most of all ... fun icon_razz.gif. There is only one thing I despise about this quest is the extra key thing to prevent messing with keys. If your dungeons are well built (and they are) you don't need this. The only way someone could mess with keys in these dungeons is if they don't get a key that is behind a keyhole and they run out of keys. From what I have saw DFW ... most of your keyholed doors lock the way to a special item. Before the player gets there ... he can find more than enough keys to open the remaining keyholes. I know you tried to do well DFW with this feature but I will tell you how you made it probably worse icon_frown.gif

Most people won't know about this key feature before coming to this forum (like me ... duh). Throughout the game they will be happy to have that many keys as they can easily breeze through a dungeon, take all the items, kill the boss ... and get the keys afterward icon_razz.gif. No I wasn't stuck on level 8 either ... I even had remaining keys after this dungeon icon_smile.gif. Now comes the nasty part. Since I had so many keys ... I did not bother to find them all on my trip trough the quest. Now ... what happens to people like me who forgot a key in the event after level 8 ... Here's the whole problem DFW ... now I am probably unable to finish Master Dome because of that missing key (obviously ... the extra keys I had after level 8 came from there). If I didn't had extra keys throughout the game ... I would have been FORCED to get that extra key during the event. I have not backtracked to previous levels to search for keys that I might have missed because I know I finish level 8 with 3 keys then exited the event after that with 2, and if the number of keys in your quest match with the number of keyholes (meaning that at the end of everything ... there is no extra keys) then I think it's not even worth to look for these keys as I know I will not finish Master Dome in any way.

Phew ... that was long and is probably a bit confusing but at least I was able to show the whole problem. Sigh ... now I think that all I have to do is finish level 9 and create a new game and find that darn key ... It will be long ... but I think such a wonderful quest deserves it.

I sincerely apologise for intentionally revealing the surprise.
Anyway everything worked out fine, I found the extra key (the only one I was missing) & I cleared Master Dome.

Teilyr, I tried diong that but it didn't work.
Those two last screenshots I posted seems to be having that controller problem.

well, I knew for a fact, that given certain gameplay requirements, not completing the Master Dome IS possible. You can complete all other levels completely, but there are TWO keys in the special event that can change things drastically and make it IMPOSSIBLE for anyone to complete the Master Dome. But since its such an optional and trivial part of the quest, it was not a valid issue. Now if that problem occured with a required level, I'd have a problem with it. So its up to the player if they want to mix and match keys found in dungeons. (like find 3 keys in level 3, use them in levle 5, use keys foudn there in level 2, etc.) And gather extra keys from Master Dome to complete any section of the required dungeons you haven't finished yet. So all in all, its Master Dome that can potentially get screwed over here. But as said earlier, its not required, so its not a big issue for me. It may be to a player, but it wasn't my problem they misused a key or two from 'said special event'. icon_wink.gif For those who have played the quest you all know which event I'm talking about!

EDIT: Ielen, now that you have access to the master key, I hope you finish level 9 as it was intended to be finished before buying that master key. icon_wink.gif

Will do that, but I need to locate missing HC pieces. Still haven't found the paths where the statue's & mermaid's eyes meet yet.
