I have the basic layout of some of the regions of the overworld done, and the layout of the 1st dungeon. I just need to finish it now. Hopefully will wrap that up tonight, make the villiage, and set up the area around the 2nd dungeon.

Nice to hear that you are pretty far already :D The village sounds interesting! I'm wondering what the village will be like :)

My game features a big dungeon of 18 floors, currently about 3 of them are done. There are still some scripts that need completion as well, so I may not finish this in time X_X

This isn't my whole map so far, but it is a fairly large chunk.

Wow, this looks pretty good. Nice work so far.

Well, so far, I've got the intro and most of the overworld done. Six screens left and it'll be finished. Although I need to populate it with enemies (which need to be scripted) and make the cave systems still.

I still only have one dungeon planned out on paper though, so that might be my downfall...

Nice work you have made as well, Russ. I think you'll do fine with dungeons. You could make the planned one the last one since I think the last one has to be the best. And that way, you make your first dungeons first, then, when it's almost time for the contest to end, you make the last one using the template/paper no matter how many dungeons you have. But you'll do fine, I know it :D Good luck to you as well!

Pffffft! Planning? Who needs planning? I wing most of my dungeons. I only plan bosses, themes, and items. :heh:

Hahaha, nice, BUT RUSS LOVES PLANNING! :D I actually started doing it like a day ago, heh, for my current quest project. :) But it's true, some people do better without planning. It's just preference. :)

I've tried winging it before. Have you ever played LotH DX? You know that horrible first level that makes no sense with the switches that do stuff on the other side of the map for no apparent reason? Yeah... that's what happens when I try winging a dungeon. Not doing that again.

Meanwhile, Evan decides to wing it and Prismatic Gate happens. I think it's a gift certain people have, and I'm not one of them.

Although, ironically, bosses are the one thing that I don't always plan. Sometimes I know what I want them to be, but others I don't really figure out til I'm almost done making the dungeon. In this case, I have a boss idea for the one dungeon I have planned, but I don't know if finding graphics for it will be an option.

Well, I'm working on level 9 right now. I'm planning to have at least 50 levels, not joking here.

(though, each "level" is actually just one screen big and it's more like an arcade puzzle game)

Ya, I can never plan out that kind of stuff. I just paste the main dungeon layout in the areas I want the dungeon to be, decide what the items are and the boss is, and just go from there. I wish I could have signed up, but I didn't feel up for it. Now it's to late, so I won't be able to get anywhere near finished without it being sloppy. It'll still be fun looking at other peoples quests though.

I am working on a overworld and a town in the game now. And

I was expecting that.
