I think the colors look kind of muddy (it seems as though almost everything is a green or brown). Of course, I'm obligated to at least give it a chance. The game itself looks rather interesting.

Mabye it's actually a prequel and only a spiritual sequel.
Nope, confirmed sequel, taking place after ALttP.

To be honest, I'm not too excited. I really don't like that they're reusing LttP's overworld. I'd rather see something new, or at the very least, something based off LttP's but still different. But eh. Zelda is Zelda, I suppose. Just not hyping it up like everybody else is.

Hey, if they reuse the LttP's overworld, the way you did in Darkness Within, then it will be a great game!
Man I like the trailer and this games name.

Well yeah, I reused parts of the overworld, but I also added new places. If Nintendo did something like that, I'd be happy. But so far, we haven't seen anything new with the overworld.
There was a part on the overworld where Link had to hieroglyph himself in order to reach a Heart Container piece, but other than that everything looks remade from alttp ![]()

Wait, there were switches that required arrows that trigger a chest appearing outside the Eastern Palace in aLttP? ![]()

Key highlighted quotes from Aonuma:
"It’s not a direct sequel in the sense that it’s the same Link and Zelda. The world is the same and it might be a different generation of Link and Zelda."
"It’s the same world," he said. "It’s the same space. But in the same way that, over time, the topography can change, there will be some changes. The land will be affected a little bit.
"The dungeons, for the most part, will be in the same place, but inside might change. Now that I say that out loud, it sounds a little strange, but we’re making decisions based on what’s best for gameplay. We’re picking and choosing what we change and what we don’t, so players can expect some changes."
Asked if A Link to the Past's Dark World would be returning—that's the photo negative version of the SNES game's entire map that players could transfer Link to and from—Aonuma playfully shrugged.
So, this is interesting news indeed, all of it. I thought the Dark World was already confirmed, but Aonuma's reaction seems like it's definitely gonna show up. The fact that it's not the same Link and Zelda opens up more possibilities, which is good story-wise, since it seems like it couldn't fit with the original characters' timeline; someone before already said it would "fall after" A Link to the Past, so it'll probably be set between it and Zelda 1, in that case. Damn it, that was the plot for my quest... Well, guess that still means the Master Sword won't sleep forever. Unless they decided to make it a prequel after all. I dunno.
Definitely good if parts of the overworld change. A fresh experience is nice.

I knew the overworld being slightly the same wasn't for nostalgia reasons. It was more for logical reasons. I'm glad they are making new dungeons though for gameplay purposes. So it should be fun and different from a Link to the Past somewhat. I'm not impressed with the overworld graphics to an extent but I find the dungeon graphics appealing.
Also a new area on the overworld would be nice (unless they're sticking with a square world then it's going to be kinda hard squeezing in one). Give a more solid reason for us to relove aLttP's Hyrule.

Oh, I think they are very much going for the nostalgia factor. But if you are a Nintendo official you can not say something like: "We reuse the LttP overworld to make sure we have a solid base of nostalgia sellings and make money off aLttP for the x-th time." in an interview. You have to say what you say about every Zelda game ever made: "Descisions are made in favor of gameplay yadayadayada.".
Edit: I am not complaining at all, though. I've been looking forward to a LttP 3 dimensional remake for a while now and finally seeing it done in such a fine fashion is great. While I might not end up buying the product, I will have my fun looking things up about the game, watching LPs maybe and such. Looking forward to it.

Yeah, this pretty much confirms my worst fears - that we're not going to get to explore ANYWHERE new. This doesn't sound like a sequel, it sounds like a remake with redesigned dungeons and a few overworld tweaks. Sorry for being so negative, but I'm really disappointed. I want a new Zelda, not a remake, and this treads the line too closely.

Maybe caves and location of caves and such will be different.
That'd mean there would be something to explore, I think.

It's not about structure, it's about atmosphere. I don't want to see a redesigned desert palace, I want to visit a new palace completely. I want to see what creative new dungeon ideas and locations the developers can imagine up. I'll probably end up buying it anyway, and I guess it's still too early to tell, but it's pretty discouraging.

I'm still okay with it, personally. I like the idea they're going for, that we get to take a look at an environment and how it's changed over generations. Ocarina of Time and Oracle of Ages both explored this concept, but in the same game. Getting to do so in a new game, while it may seem like a cheap recycling, still seems like it could be a neat experience. Perhaps mountain geography's different. Perhaps the desert's more of a wasteland, or the marsh is overgrown. Kakariko Village may have expanded. We only go to see a sliver of land next to the Lost Woods, the area outside the Eastern Palace, and Link's house; that doesn't actually show us much.
I suppose I'll only be disappointed if the secrets and alternate world interaction are just copied and not unique. I'm still looking forward to it. And if that dark, upside-down Triforce on the logo is just an artistic touch or a hint at something...
