Well ... I've been thinking a lot about it, and I've been having a much better time on this playthrough. Part of it is having the ring available, but I also have to admit I made some big stupid mistakes without fully catching on to what you were doing. For example, in the Haunted Grove, I didn't realize the ghosts attacked based on your item use and thought they constantly zoned in on me all the time when I was trying to fight. I also didn't realize there were neat little trails to follow in Mirror Mountain, and now that I get it, I think that place is brilliant. I also did a poor job in exploring the Dark World originally, and didn't discover a great many of the upgrades available.
I also wasn't used to fighting enemies like fire wizzrobes effectively, and I learned some better strategies from playing Russ's Darkness Within. I still hate that those Darknuts always respawn due to the fact they split, but what the heck.
On top of all that, diifferent types of games appeal to different people, and it doesn't feel right that I should vote something down because I don't enjoy such big challenges.
So, yeah ... I feel like I gave you a review based at least partially on my own ignorance, and I feel really bad about it. I've heard the new site may allow for editing reviews, and if it does I'll increase it, if it doesn't, well, I'm sorry for mucking up your score.

I understand how much people invest in their quests, and it feels thoughtless of me to have judged so quickly without giving this a better chance.
For me, level 5 wasn't really the problem, it was level 6. This time, I'm finding it much more manageable. But yeah, darknuts ... I just wish they didn't always return.
The only thing that still really bugs me is the patras. If you must have so many of them, you should at least make sure the player doesn't get hit immediately by scrolling in from the top of the screen.
I can tell from your design overall that you're very concerned with making a good experience for the players. And on the whole, you succeed. I really hope to finish this time, and I'll give you some additional thoughts when I do.
