Shane, have you played this quest through or have you made any quests? I really don't get why you're cutting this down so much. I think this is one of the better quests I've played in a while, especially for a 192 quest. It's got challenge, a storyline, good dungeon design and a great "quest" element. That, right there, is to me, what makes a good game. If the music bothers me, I turn down the volume, that really isn't that difficult to do. I'm assuming this is tox_von's first quest and you'd never know that, it's got the feel of an "established" questmaker, one who knows the tricks of making a good ZC game. Maybe when you put your quest into the database it will be better than tox_von's, but until then, I'll just enjoy this quest.

Yes I played many quests and I'm making one. This quest isn't the best nor worst I played. It has glaring flaws I want him to fix in his next quest so that he can "improve" his "quest design". This is what we call "feedback" that helps us become better "quest makers".

I just felt gameplay was the only thing to was good.

as for the overworld music, the music takes nothing away from the game.

Music, is an important key when it comes to quest design you got to have the right music otherwise it won't fit and won't make the area that uses the music feel good.

Yes I tried it certainly improvement I hope you take my feedback into consideration. icon_smile.gif

The thing about Gameplay is that it's got to be logical say if I were to make a cow that needs to be boomeranged why? The cow would just moo. But if I hit a specific vine it would cut it. When I mean specific I mean like a tile that isn't used for decoration. So you know straight away that this is a boomerang target If I were to hide a bomb-able wall behind a block I would give a hint there, that was totally unexpected. The music, is an important key when it comes to making games. What if I putted in girly music as the Final Boss theme? That would stink now wouldn't it? So music IS important.

Yes, but music is also subjective. So, to you what may be a "glaring flaw" could be just fine to another player. The music in this quest didn't bother me at all, I thought it was pretty much fitting to the game. This game got me to want to come back and play more. Not too many games can do that, you play for awhile then quit because the gameplay wasn't your style or it was too confusing or too muddled of an overworld you didn't know where to go next. This game was pretty straighforward, you weren't spending your time wandering around aimlessly. I thouroughly enjoyed it, and I honestly didn't find to many flaws, bugs or problems.

I'll look forward to your quest, Shane.

I'd call this directing and have it one of the judegable categorys for games. This is what i look for in games to along with gameplay.

Where's the white sword in this quest?
Managed to get 6 3/4 hearts, but it's getting a bit hard fighting with the wooden sword. Been to the graveyard where I can push a tomb, but there's no hole underneath. Is this where the white sword is supposed to be? Thanks.

Support from the quest maker is always appreciated. Thanks, tox-von for the help on your challenging quest.

Got it... I needed to go 2 more frames up...

hi tox_von,

Is there a place to buy potions?

I'm in level 4 and have endured multiple deaths up to this point. i don't mind dying a thousand times, but going thru the same thing everytime and not being able to advance is a bit too much for me. With the blue suit not available until level 6, it seems like it's quitting time for a mediocre player like me.

I've enjoyed up this point. Thanks for your Superb work - I like the layout and the tileset. It's just the challenge level is too much for me.

Would be very interested in trying your newest quest (Tropicana Island) once finalized. Thanks

Yeah your meant to use potions in my quest thats why theres heaps of bushes to get money.

Tropicana Island isnt as challenging i set it up diffrently its hard to find some stuff but not as gameplay hard. It plays up to level 6 perfectly almost then some things arnt done but you can still finish it i think. I need this bit tested.

Ive also got a 2.5 quest with 4 level paths done but no dungeons ill post it in the other section soon.

Also Id like more people to rate my quest in the download section and give feedback so i can do updates especially for about 5a on.

Thanks, tox_von. It was just my general lack of sense of direction in this quest. Just like obtaining keys from the king and the goron heights - I thought they were for somewhere later in the game. Have the big wallet so I definitely have money for the potion.

Have completed a lot of challenging quests before, but this one is uniquely frustrating. I got the feeling that I'm always ill-equipped to fight the enemies (Same reason why I avoid those "search for the first sword" quests).

True, it's living up to its "power" theme, but you need enough power to get more power. The challenge level could be toned down a bit. e.g. level 4 - adding fire shooting statues to hazards and tough enemies is a bit much. And when you die you trek back out a long trail to buy potions and go thru the same scene over and over again.

I'm still enjoying this quest and determined to see the awesomeness of your entire creation, but will put it down for now. Thank you so much for all the help thus far.

I didn't see the fire shooting statues and peahats in any other quest i wanted to make peahats harder and this was the only way.

To beat this you have to leave one at the top screen as enemies don't respawn that is the trick to most of the levels.
