So being the perfectionist I am, I got a walkthrough to help find all the expansions I missed. Then came the ones requiring Speed Boost. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Some of these are so random whether or not you make it through a wall. I've literally launched over 50 times to get a Power Ball expansion with no luck. I'm probably going to have to look it up on Youtube because there is apparently a tiny spot on this ledge you have to launch off from that I can't find if my life depended on it. Other ones requiring Speed Boost have taken anywhere from 10 minutes, to over an hour. That's for ONE EXPANSION.
With that said, I didn't play the original Metroid, but this game is so short and getting these expansions for 100% to unlock the gallery pictures, is just plain painful.
Game rating = C+
(Oh and I will forever hate Speed Boost and anything to do with it from now on. I was neutral with it before being in Super Metroid and Other M)
So I'll probably look up some Youtube videos to get 100% at least once (I'm aware you need to do it like a bajillion times to unlock everything), then it's up to Fusion to not be a failure. If it doesn't do the crap with the Speed Boost, then there's a chance..

- Avernum 4 - Old-school style isometric'ish grid-based RPG. Has a decent plot. Very nice, well-developed setting.
- Sim City 4 Deluxe - Gave myself a frickin billion dollars and went to town. ... but not before I built it.

- Prototype 2 - I just need to finish the darn thing. Fun, sure, but I want to finish it! :shakefist:
- Saints Row the Third - Again, I just want to finish it and get it out of the way.
- ZC - Still fixing up Dreams of Yesterday. I think all of the bugs are actually gone! O_O It's fully playable everywhere with everything, anywhere, with not so much as a blip or a bug. I'm adding new content now. We'll be able to slash when all's said and done. I'm cramming as much into a mere 8 screens as possible as the path to unlock the dojo in a huge rock near Capital Port.
- Anno 2070 - Playing this on and off. Mostly off. -.- Great game, though. I do love that kind of game. Plentifully immersive.
- Far Cry 1 - Because I played Far Cry 2 a bit, and wanted to see what it was about. Looks overly simplified. You die way too fast. Not doing that much in it. May not be worth continuing.
- X3: Terran Conflict - If you want a game where your shift moves slower than molasses through a universe fourteen gazillion times larger than our own, THIS GAME IS FOR YOU!1!2
Holy hell, man.
If I wanted to play a game like Freelancer, I'd just play Freelancer. - Super Mario World - ... Oh. I'm not playing it. Just watching a hell of a lot of Let's Plays from Raocow on Youtube. VIP1, VIP2, VIP3, and soon VIP4. Hahaha, temple of homing. I actually skipped right to that level due to Hunter P's progress on it. Scary level.
- Faster Than Light - I did what I needed to do. I'm good.
- Devil May Cry 4 (PC) - I still need to configure my gamepad for it, I suppose. I probably shouldn't tackle it on the keyboard 'n mouse, though I'm loathe to do otherwise.
- The Guild 2 - Because it's The Sims in a medieval commerce world. Sure.
- Orcs Must Die 2 - I cheat way too much at that game, and just coat everything with spike traps that don't even do that much. Oh it's a fine game, sure; I just don't have that much time on my hands. ... ... This list is probably why.

- Borderlands 2 - I'm still at the beginning of my second play-through with Zero. Walking is way too slow.
- Terraria - I've got like, 50 mods going on this thing now, and I just blaze through everything due to lack of patience.
- Skyrim - I've beaten the game, sure, but I still haven't done everything. It's one of the few games where I actually really want to.
- Fallout: New Vegas - I feel like I've done more with the side-quests and exploration than with the main plotline. I've never beaten the game. I'm way, way too distracted.
EDIT: Hahaha, I posted the list, and went back to look at it, and facepalmed. WTF.

Why would you use a guide (Except for the super tricky ones)? The map TELLS you were they are! But yeah there are some i have no hope of ever getting. I found the gameplay excellent even if it was a bit short.
I'm aware of the circle and dot things on the map. There were secret rooms that weren't on the map that had a lot of the ones I missed. Those aren't marked until you actually get into the rooms. Even getting into some of those were a nightmare with the Speed Boost. I recall a certain one that had a Energy Tank where you had to loop the Shinesparks from the Speed Boost 6 times to even get into the room. I had no idea the room even existed before the guide mentioned it.
I completed the game before looking at the guide, so it's not like there was anything to really spoil.
I may just be a little spoiled as I played Super Metroid before this one, but the gameplay felt a bit more buggy than I'm used to in this one (especially Wall Jumps). Samus either lost a lot of weight by the time Super Metroid happens or got a better Chozo Suit.
In terms of the Metroid games:
Prime > Super > Prime 3 > Prime 2 > Return > Zero Mission >>>>>>>>> Other M
(ZM loses quite a few points for the Speed Boost nonsense in this case or it would probably be above Return. )

While I agree that ZM had several difficult (and annoying) expansions to collect due to some of the insane tricks involving Speed Boost, but I find this hate to be complete and utter rubbish. Seriously, hating a powerup because you couldn't get 100% in a game because of some of the more difficult tricks involving it sounds like a cop-out reason to hate in my opinion. If I recall correctly, all of the 2D Metroid games that had Speed Boost had difficult tricks involving it, slowly getting more complicated.
The main thing that I am trying to say here is that it sounds like that you are frustrated at the game and you are taking it out on an aspect that caused the frustration, so I recommend that you give yourself time to calm down before you give it another vote. The same thing happened with me and Super Mario 3D Land, but I was spoilt by nostalgia comming from Super Mario Land (this is part of the reason I hate pure nostalgia nowadays. I now consider the orignal SML to be the weakest Mario game after having replayed it).

Even with calming down, I still don't see why they were implemented in such a way. From what I see, one of the main goals of ZM is to get the Gallery images. Otherwise you play it like once or twice and that's it. And to get some of the Gallery images, you have to get 100% of the pickups, which I'm finding to be far more impossible as I keep trying..
I don't recall Super Metroid or Return of Samus doing this (although I don't believe they had anything worthwhile of a 100% pickups reward), I believe i've completed those at least twice with every pickup without too much trouble. The Primes from what I remember had a few tricky pickups, but nothing where I'd try 50 times and still have no idea what i'm doing wrong..
I've yet to play Fusion, so I don't know if it has this Speed Boost nonsense or not.
Without the frustration aspect considered, ZM is still near Return of Samus to me. With everything considered, I think it being below Return is fair.
I kinda felt that the wall jumps in Zero Mission were a lot easier than in Super Metroid, almost as if the grace period to wall jump was far more lenient. In Super Metroid, I can't wall jump for anything.
I'm not that good with them in either, but i'm far worse in ZM than Super Metroid. I've actually had to Infinite Bomb Jump to get up somewhere which should be possible with Wall jumping a few times in ZM.

- Still playing Dark Souls. Made a new character and finally got around to becoming a darkwraith.
- Also still playing Guild Wars 2. Having fun still, but haven't had a lot of time to play over the holidays, since the girlfriend hates having me at my computer all the time.
- Picked up the HD release of Zone of the Enders the other day. I played Fist of Mars on GBA when I was a kid, so I might also find and play that eventually as well.
- Played Alan Wake, beat it, was decent.
- Played Dishonored, got bored halfway through.
- Played a game of Civ V, city states make the UN victory really easy.
- Got TS and Dan addicted to Super Hexagon, it's pretty hilarious.

...
For whatever reason, I got the strange idea to try to marathon all six Halo finales in one sitting. Finished Reach's and thought "No maybe some other time." Haven't touched Arkham City in a few days, should probably get back to that...
