I think the only items that are fair are held items. Anyone could just save a Sacred Ash for a tourney or something... would that be fair?

And, I still haven't beaten Red... I'm still trying to complete my fun team (which will, hopefully, go and grow with me and any new pokemon games I may get).

I'm not saying I'm not guilty of it myself, but in my view, a "Full 6 on 6 Battle" is just that, no more, no less. This is probably why some of you are...reluctant to fight another trainer (player), because items are banned, & anything can happen. But that's what makes them interesting (along with the Frontier). Sure, items are good, but you know something's up if you have to use a haul of items in 1 battle. That's just proof that your team's severely underleved, not that the foe's too strong. My 2¢.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamen to that. Though, honestly, I've habitually used 5+ revives on the first run through any Elite Four. Sometimes, I even use more like 10+. And, pretty consistently, 15 or so Hyper Potions.

But, that's through the entire 5 battles.

I just further proved my point by defeating Red with NO consumable items (too bad no Battle Video). Team Standings:

I, sadly, did have to lots of items when I battled Clair with a team topping out at Level 35.
On a related note, I beat Clair with a team topping out at level 35. It took lots of healing items, but eventually her Kingdra and second Dragonair went down. Took me three tries before I eventually beat her though.
Now to do the Dragon's Den.

That's actually a bit of a fallacy, since some legends are only as good as/worse than some other Pokemon. Raikuo comes to mind as a Legendary Pokemon who is so restricted by his moveset that he is considered worse than many electric-types, such as Jolteon. Entei is so unremarkable that he falls into the Never-Used tier. By the same token, a select few non-legends are considered so powerful that they break standard play, such as Garchomp and Wobbuffet/Wynaut. This is a good list of Pokemon that are too powerful for standard play; note that stuff like Celebi, Latias, and Suicune are nowhere to be found here, even though they're very good legendary Pokemon. They don't break the game like these do.

You mean like my Quiet natured Lv. 91 Gengar and his off the wall Sp. Atk (305) ! Well, that's EV training for you , thanks to Sabrina. 'Dex gets better by the week! 373/493 Seen, 281/493 Obtained. If someone has a Kabuto, I'd love to "see" it.
