Spears aren't really a spoiler, they were shown during the E3 trailer. :P As for the other "spoiler", IDK, it doesn't really say anything? But to each their own I guess.

I've explored a good chunk of the overworld (~60%) and done some good progress with the story (~50%?). Also done only a few shrines (9). Holy crap this game is not only amazing but very brutal if you are unprepared. I could go on and on though about how amazing this game is so I will stop here before I go into a ramble. :P

I agree, I've already died a lot. More often than I usually do in a modern Zelda game. In that regard it does remind me of Zelda 1, in which you were allowed to explore Death Mountain and fight blue Lynels with 3 hearts, the wooden sword and a small shield.

Can we make a separate thread for spoilers? I'd like to keep up on this thread.

Not really needed, we have spoiler tags. :)

:-/  We do, but I doubt that will last....

One thing I would like to know is if Link speaks dialogue and if you can choose english or japanese voice acting.

I don't see that as a spoiler, but others might

Sorry if my earlier post had spoilers for anyone. I hate spoilers myself so I'll try to be more aware. If I post something in hidden tags, it's a spoiler. I'm sorry I can't not hype. :P

Wii U Version:

1) Short momentary massive FPS drop when looking at nearby stuff and then panning the camera to a vista. So far most noticeable near Temple of Time, Kakariko Village and the mountain ledge where you start the game at. Overall the FPS seems quite good and the games graphics are amazing for a Wii U game, far better than Skyward Sword's (I also like the visual aesthetic).

2) massive FPS drop when you climb a tree to the top, causing its leaves/branches to become transparent.

3) Can use the Wii U Gamepad to output audio to headphones, even when playing with a Pro Controller on TV (Can't do this on the Switch!). However the game fails to switch to outputting audio to the TV if the Wii U Gamepad goes flat and there is seemingly no way to make it do this aside from quitting the game completely and launching it again.

It'll be pretty sweet when the "OoT is the best game of all time" generation finds everyone calling BotW the "best game of all time" in a year or two and snubbing OoT. Just so they'll know how us older gamers felt when they snubbed our favorites for OoT.  :teehee:

And then they'll start asking when "Zelda 2" is.

To be honest, I haven't wanted to post much in this thread because... well, the exploration and sense of discovery is so great and integral to the experience that I don't want to talk about it. Everyone should have a chance to experience this fresh new style of gameplay, all these little things that are just really neat to explore and discover. I don't want to ruin that for anyone. I'll just talk about how pretty it is.

Seriously though, I'm having a great time, but I can definitely say this is nothing like any past Zelda. The controls, the direction (or perhaps lack thereof), the goals... It really is fresh and no one can accuse it of copying a past Zelda game. Not even Zelda 1, to be honest. Sure, that game was directionless, but it nevertheless has its own "rules" to follow, no matter how few. The only time you really have to follow any sorts of "rules" are on the plateau, but once you get off... And even there you have a lot of freedom. It's just... such a good game, one that will be tough to compare to the past 3D games. I wouldn't hesitate to call this in a completely different league than the rest of the series.

Oh man, I have no Wii U or Switch, nor the money for either, so I'm being left out on what everyone seems to be calling the best game of all time. :(

Guess I'll have to wait for my birthday? Not even sure about that either. I decided to just enter a whole bunch of Switch giveaways, but I pretty much have no chance to get one from a giveaway. AHHHHHHHHH I WANT THIS GAME SO BAD!!!!!

Yeah, I don't really wanna run the risk of spoiling anything either. This is something you need to experience yourselves.

I've been playing for about 25 hours or so, and I suspect I've only seen about.. Maybe 15% of what this game has to offer? I've cleared a decent chunk of shrines, and completed one other major objective, and wow. That's really all I can say. The openness not only applies to the flow of the world, but also how you solve puzzles. Before, Zelda games had a clear way they wanted you to do stuff. Here, the sky, and physics are the limit. I've been constantly experimenting with ways to solve various shrines in unique ways, and as someone who doesn't really like puzzles this is insanely rewarding and well designed.

Best Zelda ever. Better than ALttP. Waaaay better than OoT. And don't give me any of that "for their time" crap. :P

This. Is. Sparta Zelda.

Left the plateau, stole a horse, and immediately went to Hyrule Castle to collect sweet loot. Great game so far.

(And yes I did get the "sweet loot".)

Found a puzzle that required me to switch from the Wii U Pro Controller to the Wii U Gamepad because the puzzle required gyroscopic controls. The puzzle sucked complete ass primarily because the puzzle responded very poorly to movement of the gamepad. I ended up haxxing the puzzle as the alternative was way too difficult to do more than once (and fail at the end).

No clue how good the game responds to the Switch's gyroscope.
