The game's getting perfect review scores from a lot of major reviewing sites like IGN, Polygon, and GameSpot! This makes me even more excited, and I'm really looking forward to when I can play the game myself. :)

Great job, Nintendo!

Let's not forget Skyward Sword also got perfect ratings from most sites (minus GameSpot). :P

Remember when there was a map screen on the Wii U GamePad back during the 2014 gameplay footage? Complete with the time of day and zoom options? Here's what it shows now:

Kind of a bummer in comparison, though I suppose I somewhat understand the removal.

And I personally believe those review scores were well deserved and completely right. I really enjoyed Skyward Sword; for me it was really well designed and the motion controls were amazing (and the non-linearity didn't bother me). I also didn't really agree with most people's criticisms of the game. Typically, I find that reviews from critics match my own evaluation of the game, and thus I trust those reviews when buying games, etc. :)

Just because critical reviews and user reviews of a certain game don't completely correlate doesn't mean the critics' reviews themselves were inaccurate, nor does it mean that the user reviews were wrong. Both "types" of reviews are completely entitled to their own evaluation of the game.

Aand my phone still won't let me post pictures. But, I got it for WiiU.

Too bad I have to wait for it to download the rest of the game but after the numerous delays over the years I'm numb to it. :P I can't believe it's really here. I'm in shock, almost.

I just got it and have played it for a couple of hours. Great fun so far. From what I can tell, the overworld is huge indeed, and you can either follow the main quest or just wander around and find things to do. You can place markers on your map to remember things you want to check out later. At the moment it feels a bit like a cross between Zelda and Elder Scrolls.

Alright, I beat it.

No just kidding. I've barely scratched the surface. I've gotten off the plateau and done two other shrines, both in different regions, and did a little more running around, and... I really like it. I still need to get used to the controls a bit, because this is a much different and more complex control scheme than past Zelda entries. Combat's also more involved and I love it. It's so free and open and I love it. There's no one nagging you to do things, you just go and find your own way and do whatever. This is easily my favorite aspect, now to hope the rest of the world delivers on the experience.

Also cooking's fun.

I don't know why, but I am addicted to cooking for some reason. It's so satisfying when you mix together a bunch of ingredients and make a meal that restores more hearts than I even have!

Just made it to the first town.

I love it. It's everything I thought it would be, and it still keeps surprising me. I can't even put it down long enough to make a long post.

Random thoughts:
-Why is everyone taller than Link?
-I really like spears.
-Found a really powerful weapon after leaving the plateau, then lost it (it had 46 attack).
-I have not done much cooking. I don't have flint, so I either have to find a fire or carry a torch.
-Did the snowy plateau area without the warmer clothes :D
-So much more I can't even think of.
-Possibly the new Zelda standard. The OoT, or AlttP of this generation.

The hardest change to get use to is the removal of auto jumping, and the addition of a stand alone jump button (at the expense of a roll button) . It works really well, and combat is way more involved. You have to really pay attention. You can't just tank it and mash B anymore. :P

Also climbing waterfalls with ice is quite a blast. I feel like this whole world is one massive navigational puzzle, and I couldn't be happier with that choice.

Damn it. The continous praise this game is getting is actually hurting me. Because all it's doing is making me just buy a Switch and the game.

Maybe i should just give in.

Honestly the game is great so far. I got off the plateau and went straight for Hyrule castle. I made it about half a mile towards the castle before I got incinerated by a guardian. Fun times.

Also, I don't mind weapon breakage. The game rewards you with such a steady supply of stuff for exploring that it doesn't matter.

I got Zelda but no luck with a Switch. I did get tempted to lick it after seeing all the stuff about it. It did have a bitter taste but I think people exaggerated as it wasn't that bad.

Can we make a separate thread for spoilers? I'd like to keep up on this thread.

I still don't really realize the game is already out. Maybe I just shove this reality away from me subconsciously since I can't play the game anyway. And I agree with cukeman, I like to look here for some information (ignoring videos and links) while not really getting spoilered that much. The biggest spoilers here on the forum (that concern me) are Anthus mentioning spears and matthew's profil-picture.

Anyway, I fear I might completly ruin the game for myself if I ever get to play it. I have some unhealthy perfectionism that most likely will ruin my cooking-abilities. Not too long ago I played Summon Night: Swordcraft Story 1/2, not the best games, but good enough for a bit of enjoyment. But I actually spend more time looking around walkthroughs and testing things out (there were quite a few things missing) than playing the game. It is not like I don't like doing so, but if I start I do it like a maniac until the testing around seems more like an addiction. And the worst, the two mentioned games actually only give you the best suff after beating the game, so I looked things up I don't even need for the game :aggravated:

I can already see me looking up the net like a complete idiot for the best cooking recipes and ingredients while spoilering the half game to myself... And I don't even like using consumables, I am totally stingy in that regard, I don't want to kill a boss without a potion to have beaten it without the potion but to not waste the pretty much worthless thing.
