I worked on the palette structure a bit for my quest. It's going to be a long process, but the ease it will bring in the long run will be worth it.
What did you accomplish in ZC today?

Finished up the last required scripts for my "2" week contest quest. I may release a demo soon after some testing.

Let's see, I added in my custom 8-bit EZGBZ-style mountain tiles to my tileset that I'm using, and put together the screen connecting the shipwreck dungeon to the overworld, which means I added in the ocean and beach graphics as well. I found out that my new palette that I've been working on over the last several weeks doesn't actually have enough colors to make the water tiles, but since everything is being done 8-bit, I cheated a little bit and used some of the shades of blue I had been reserving for exclusive sprite usage and added them to the water to be able to finish. (The original idea was dark-shaded environments with bright Minish-Cap colored items and sprites) I also finally remembered to test out the script that somebody made for me that allows the entire game's main gimmick to work correctly, and the script works as it should.
Finally, I was listening to music on YouTube, and found an AMAZING song that would be an excellent addition to my quest. I just need to figure out how to loop an mp3 smoothly in ZC to make it sound right. (No, I know you can't mess with an mp3 that way in ZC, but I have Audacity installed on my computer. I plan on trying to edit the mp3 in that.) If everything goes perfectly, I can edit the mp3 so that it loops seamlessly in ZC. Hopefully...

I'm determined not to let this be like some of my past projects and never get finished, so I'm trying to make sure that I finish at least one new screen per day of my quest. Other than that, I got the new Rupee counter on my subscreen working (thanks to Gleeok), which counts up to 99999 of the things. Added in some more tiles as I needed them to my tileset, so I can now make beach and field areas without too much additional work, and put together some new tall grass combos that I found from a GBC Bomberman game. They look really nice and match the rest of my tileset surprisingly well, and come in different shapes so that I can have curving patches of tall grass, with the curving tiles still looking alright if the tiles around them are cut and they're left alone.
Also, I've been watching a Let's Play of a game called Survival Kids (mainly because I've been interested in the game but suck at those types of games) and have been getting a lot of inspiration and learning ideas on open-world exploration from that game's layout. I'm planning on making my overworld something huge and fun to explore and discover things, and this game seems to have a lot of interesting ways to do things that I really like and want to try and add into my quest.

Y'know, if you're getting burnt out on ZC, you should take a break from it and recharge, you'll be surprised at how much easier it is to work once you've had some time away from it.

Also made Kandokyan sprites for the Classic tileset, as one of the enemies I have planned to use in my 5th quest entry. For those who don't know, Kandokyan is the candle-head enemy from Oracle of Ages.

Finished implementing most of my scripts and assigning elemental weapons, then spent most of the day updating and reworking the overworlds I already had to accommodate the new features, items, etc.

What is this?
Why yes, a quest where you can either obey or disobey the narrator, while sometimes having your own freedom doesn't do any harm... your journey could end sooner with climatic cutscene endings. ![]()
