And as it happens quite often, when you're replaying a huge quest like this, you suddenly see another small mistake (which actually can influence the amount of keys), so I will be doing another update soon that will change the pushable block in Level 5-4 (Bow) of the Maxi Randomizer in the room with the lock blocks surrounding the supposedly pushable block. The block in 2nd Mini (Level 5 obviously) was set correctly, so I didn't expect it to be different in Randy. :(

I have submitted the updates to both German and English quest packs now. It should go live tomorrow. This includes a few stealthfixes and a visually better appealing display of the life meter.

EDIT: Update is now live!

I would like to request that my quest packs (English and German) are taken down as quickly as possible. I am sick of having to update it again and again, and I will probably find more and more bugs, and nobody is playing it anyway. I will have to contact a mod or admin privately because nobody is watching this thread either.

I just found out that Mini 2nd (both ENG and GER version) had the white sword shooting beams even though there is a beam upgrade at eight hearts later in the quest ... and nobody found out about it in all this time and I have just played through all quests once more to make sure everything is fine. And now this. It just confirms that nobody is even playing any of my stuff.

Thanks.

Is there an administrator online who can delete my quest pack? I tried to DM one, but I got no answer in over 3 days.

Edit: Thanks Russ for taking care of my request. :)

Well, that's a shame, I quite liked the quest pack, and never really ran into any issues. Oh well, I've got it archived somewhere I think. Obviously not going to reupload it- what kind of person would I be if I pulled a stunt like that?

Since a few people have recently asked me (also on Youtube) about a public link again (and this time it's in my own responsibility to update it), I have re-uploaded my quest pack with the 3 Hero Mode and 2 Mini quests to my Mediafire account. Updated link is in the most recent post below.

I updated the above mentioned quest pack with the following non-game-changing features (just donwnload the ZIP and keep all NSF files in the same folder as the QST file is, and you should be able to hear all music):

1st HM

Changed the soundtrack of the bonus dungeon to the previously used soundtrack in the Borg Cube (composed by Big Joe) before that got changed to the newer MIDI soundtracks for the Level 9 and bonus dungeons. A new NSF music file is now used for Lorule.

2nd HM

Changed the soundtrack of the bonus dungeon to a soundtrack that has not been recently used at all, but also compsed by Big Joe. The previously used soundtrack of this bonus dungeon is now part of a new dungeon color set in the Mini quests and the 3rd Hero Mode (HM) quest. A new NSF music file is now used for Lorule.

1st & 2nd Mini

Color sets of several dungeons have been slightly adjusted while one has been replaced with an all-new brownish looking color set ( Level 8 ). For all new or altered color sets, soundtracks have been replaced by others, some from Big Joe, some from an extended NSF file with really good Zelda 8-bit converted music. A new NSF music file is now used for Minirule (Zelda enthusiasts will surely know which one it is).

3rd HM

Music has been added to the caves of Hyrule and Lorule. A new NSF music file is now used for Lorule. Color sets of several dungeons have been slightly adjusted while one has been replaced with an all-new brownish looking color set ( Levels 5 and 8 ). For all new or altered color sets, soundtracks have been replaced by others, some from Big Joe, some from an extended NSF file with really good Zelda 8-bit converted music.

All Quests

MIDI music for all Level 9 dungeons and the Borg Cube (3rd HM / Maxi) remain unchanged since they are already pretty epic.

Maxi (Randy)

The Randomizer (or if you wish without randomizing pure Maxi quest) has been updated to include a lot more custom music. To make the transitions from item cellars to dungeons and vice versa easier, I have decided to go purely with MIDI music for the Maxi quest. For the newer color sets (above mentioned), there is also distinct music, adapted from Hero of Fire's "Randomizer Super". The Minirule overworld MIDI is from Chris Miller's Titan's Quest (Antiquity). The only NSF file in use is the cave music that has been newly added for 3rd Hero Mode, too.

The download link has been updated in my post above this one.

A new version has been uploaded. For the latest download link, please check the most updated notes.

Changes are listed below.

3rd HM

:: One black room in Level 8 has been altered from ten rupees to six black Zols.

Maxi (Randy)

:: The first whistle no longer needs magic to use.

:: Arrow and bomb max caps have increased from 80 to 88 and from 40 to 44 to avoid the spawning of infinite bombs or infinite arrows (too over-powered). So there is now one extra quiver and one extra bomb bag instead. The item count remains at 203 (+1 super secret item). The script from Hero of Fire had erroneously listed a max arrow cap of 90 instead of 80 anyway, so infinite arrows hadn't worked as intended even in the version before, but the extra quiver wouldn't add to the max of 80 that was hardcoded by me in the init data. Both "init data" and "script values" have now been altered to 88 arrows and 44 bombs maximum.

A new version has been uploaded, changes are listed below.

Maxi (Randy)

:: Changed the color of the last level Cane of Byrna from silver to gold.

:: Edited several text strings throughout the quest (shortened some, cleared out similar ones).

:: Changed the Borg Cube’s item cellar order (unrandomized) to have its final item be a sword.

My quests have returned to PureZC after quite a break. The newest version (2.55 required now due to edits in the 2.55 editor with CSets 12 and 13 now a thing instead of just ending at 11) has been submitted and should hopefully get accepted within a week or so.

The biggest additions are the new third Lost Levels quest in Minirule (wanted to give that overworld some more mileage) and the Ultimate Challenge which replaces the Randomizer Maxi which would have been missing the newest dungeon set from Lost Levels 3rd and also I am unable to script, and I have no idea if Hero of Fire is still active either (and I'm no longer on Discord since Feb 2025 due to my step for a social media sizedown). So it was the most logical decision of mine to make a 100% own quest again that I can edit and update at my leisure.

Ultimate Challenge features a new custom slingshot item (two levels). Yes, it's not purrfect by any means (you can't even see Link actually showcasing it when firing rocks away), but it does it's job and it's a new purrjectile (weapon type "Reflected Rock") to play around with. Some enemies and items have changed color to the new CSet 12 and 13 (300 Rupees worth orange rupee, 1 Rupee worth green rupee, 5 Rupees worth blue rupee, 50 Rupees worth purrple rupee, Deathbo, Weak Big Circle Patra, Weak Gibdo, Weak Floating Wizzrobe, Fire Wizzrobe, Fire Gohma, Fire Zol and Fire Pol's Voice ... and more).

Some stats for Ultimate Challenge for those who'd like to give it a shot at playing: 175 unique items total - 16 money capacity, 8 arrow capacity, 8 bomb capacity, 8 magic capacity upgrades, 8 triforce pieces (all end of the dungeon prizes), 56 individual dungeon items, 60 heart pieces, 6 heart containers and 5 swords. If you wanna count the Enemy Bait and Magic Shield and the basic Super Bomb from the shops (which I don't since you can rebuy them multiple times), it's technically 178 items.

PS: Update is already through, feel free to download the quests now. :)

To celebrate the new version with the two extra color sets to play with, I added one more new enemy (a weaker version of the Bat Wizzrobe that will mainly appear in medium levels between 4 and 6). The version is purrently pending for validation and should be online either today or tomorrow. :)

It's nothing major and nobody would notice this in the first playthrough of Ultimate Challenge, but there was technically a key in Level 5-1 (does not affect Hero Mode 1st Level 5, though I took out unnecessary locked doors and keys in there as well) not necessary to use since the room behind the locked door would only hold money and no longer a major item, so it could be "saved" to speed through another dungeon or get an item much more easily in a hard dungeon bypassing rooms with hard enemies. It's very nitpicky, but I patched this now and took out the locked door and the matching key for it.

Also, there was a dark room not actually being dark in Level 5-5 (and also in Level 5 of Lost Levels 3rd). And for continuity sakes, I moved a heart container piece in Lorule to a location that would have given a heart container in the 2nd NES quest. The location with the silver cactus now rewards a free choice of magic shield, super bomb or enemy bait instead.

Update should go live tomorrow or later today. Again, this is nothing major and doesn't have to be patched immediately on your end.

Larger update:

After the final playthrough of Ultimate Challenge, I decided to give the player a better hint to the first item chamber room in the Borg Cube, so I darkened the room above for a visual trail of floor tiles during transition from bright to dark. That goes for both versions of the cube (Crazy Challenge and Ultimate Challenge). Therefore, both quest files were patched in the "Challenges" download pack. I can't tell when the change goes live (currently awaiting approval), but it should be in the next 48 hours or sooner.

Also, enemies now drop more money in general (no more 20s, but there is a new teal rupee worth 10 and it drops more than double as often as the red 20 rupee used to drop before the patch). Even smaller enemies (except Keese and Gels) can drop the teal rupee now, even though the chance is small. Those enemies never dropped any red rupees at all, so overall this is a boost for money drops.

In Lost Levels, endless magic was removed (too over-powered) and replaced by the Golden Arrows (in Level 9 respectively). There is now a Gohma Elder in every of the Level 9s of Lost Levels to make sure the player has the Golden Arrows before facing Ganon. The Golden Arrows are very useful against Deathboes (Level 9 of Lost Levels 1st Quest) and the strongest Like-Likes (purple colored, to find in Level 9 of Lost Levels 2nd and 3rd Quest).

Endless magic is still an optional item in the Borg Cube (Crazy Challenge) and the last item to pick up in Level 9-6 of the Ultimate Challenge.

Lost Levels 3rd Quest had one door repair charge cave with a wrong string that got fixed, and the open door texture of the final dungeon entrance was improved.

And finally, Peehats in all my quests are now vulnerable when a clock is active, and in all quests the 8 buttom pixels that got hidden in a newer version of ZC for some weird reason now show again.

Optional update in the pipeline: I recommend saving the current quest if you prefer the older version over the newer one.

:: Several textures / animations have been improved (in my opinion): All Wizzrobes, all Tektites, all Patras, all Rupees.

:: All waterfalls in Hyrule, Lorule and Minirule had their falling speed reduced based on player feedback.

:: File size has been restored to the original amount (overall 1 MB reduced throughout all seven projects).

All the above-mentioned changes are now live.

Final update (unless there is a game-breaking bug):

Hero Mode 1st & 2nd Quest

All 3-stair warps are enabled in both Hyrule and Lorule. One screen away from each of the 3-stair warps (up to you to find), there is a whistle warp that leads to the respective other world. There are also three additional warps between Hyrule and Lorule (whistle to reveal warp spot) for easier traveling at locations that are further away from the usual warp spots. With the recently introduced new raft paths in both overworlds and the fixed Level 8 whistle whirlwind warp spot in the 2nd HM quest, mobility is as good as it can possibly get, and it should hopefully not be an issue at all anymore.

Also, you can now continue from the Lorule starting screen even after having saved. This is particularly helpful once you have beaten all five Hyrule dungeons and you usually have no more need to go back to Hyrule except maybe for a missed arrow or / and bomb upgrade.

Lost Levels 1st, 2nd & 3rd Quest

All whistle whirlwind warps are enabled now, the whistle whirlwind no longer brings you back to the starting screen of the Minirule overworld (DMap setting adjusted). You can now warp to the entrances of Levels 1 through 8 if you have claimed the respective Triforce piece.

Crazy Challenge

All 3-stair warps are enabled in both Hyrule and Lorule. Since there is a permanently active Hyrule-Lorule warp right at the starting screen of each world, the whistle warp next to the normal 3-stair warp is not available. However, there are three additional warps between Hyrule and Lorule (whistle to reveal warp spot) for easier traveling at locations that are further away from the usual warp spots. Mazes have been taken off this quest already in the past, so mobility is very high already.

Also, you can now continue from the Lorule starting screen even after having saved, even though there is a warp right at the starting screen. Some players want to run off right away. :)

Ultimate Challenge

There is a new whistle whirlwind warp ring active that covers the original NES LOZ 1st Quest entrances of Levels 1 through 8 (which are also the entrances of Levels 1-1 through 8-1 in the UC). Due to limitations of the whistle item (only one warp ring for one whistle), that is the best I can do for you guys. Mazes have been taken off this quest already in the past, so mobility is very high already.

Also, you can now continue from the Lorule starting screen even after having saved, even though there is a warp right at the starting screen. Some players want to run off right away. :)

The final update is now live. Feel free to download them by the following links:

The Legend of Zelda - Hero Mode - Quests | PureZC

The Legend of Zelda - Lost Levels - Quests | PureZC

The Legend of Zelda - Challenges - Quests | PureZC

Edit: Hotfix for Hero Mode (missing guy in Lorule desert cave of 1st Quest) now live. Sorry. :(
