I've changed my mind. I support this particular thing retroactively. Why, you ask? Because it was bound to be entertaining one way or the other. Good reason? No.

I'm gonna state simply what I said on Facebook (ironic really, and if you don't have me on it then you a) can't see it which is b) too bad): the video that was posted at the time was completely disowned by Anonymous which means that it wasn't really legit in the first place. My theory is that it was done by someone bored who decided it would be cool to stage an incident that would be presumably feasted upon by the global media. It obviously worked in attracting mass attention, despite Anonymous denying any connection to the video or the user who posted it (note that it was removed a short time later).

Would Anonymous have gone through with this anyway if they had said they were behind the video? Maybe if #OccupyWallStreet and everything else wasn't going on. Lots of propaganda!

EDIT:
Check your Facebook urls.

p.s. I use Firefox, but apparently it's coming up in IE and everything...

There's no "they". That's the point of Anonymous.

No, they are a they. Multiple people claiming to be the same person like using someone's social security number between 20+ people. Doesn't matter what they claim to be, they're still a bunch of people.

So apparently Facebook's been hit with some massive spam attack?

Huffington Post news article (Warning: Disturbing picture)

They ask the question at the end whether or not this was Anonymous fulfilling their promise. What do you all think?

That seems like more of a consolation prize...I feel like Anonymous is much too cocky to lower their goal to something easier.

Yeah, if you go down and read the comments section, you'll see there are tons of people saying they need to remove the picture. It's a good (?) thing the internet has completely and utterly desensitized me from such things.

They took it down, but I can't unsee it. Now I feel like that dog needs to have Animal Protective services go over there. I know, this topic is not about the photo, and is about Facebook, but that did disperse on Facebook, so I'm in the clear. I just wish there was something I could've done for it :C.

Maybe those assholes didn't like the taunting everyone did to them for "not going through with November 5th" even if they claim they didn't say it.

My God, I am DELIGHTED with myself that for all these countless years, I have stuck fast to my guns and my stubbornness against ever ever ever joining Facebook like everyone's told me to. Now while all these people are all the sudden face to face with the Final Boss of the internet and no idea how to handle it, I'm smoking a metaphysical cigar in my chair bedroom floor and chuckling at all the suckers while marveling at how gloriously my investments in choices have handsomely paid off!! icon_twisted.gif F#ckin' RIGHTEOUS. I hope Facebook bites it and I will be rooting Anon on all week, if it is really them.

Filling a site that many (but not all) people think is a privacy issue with porn and horrifying images is righteous? Do you really think that they are heroes for spamming innocent people (the users) with that stuff?

Agreed. I don't use it much, but I don't want my Facebook getting spammed with porn or dog images or whatever crap they're putting up. If they have a problem with Facebook, take it out with the Facebook admins or something, not the innocent members who use it on a regular basis. I don't really know what's happening with this, I know about anonymous and all them, but it just seems like a bunch of people that want to deface Facebook because it takes away privacy (or something along those lines, I didn't read much into it). What will they even gain other than a few laughs? icon_shrug.gif

Plus if they're doing it for "a good cause", uhh what good does posting porn even do?

Let's look at PETA, again. icon_deformed.gif

But, I agree. The methods are poor, regardless of intention. Besides, even if somebody doesn't like Facebook, nobody is telling them to use it. Just ignore it's existence and let the users enjoy it. icon_shrug.gif

EDIT: Fixed the gabillion typos that were present.

I'd like you to know that right now, Facebook is the only way for me to contact one of my best friends from high school who got sent overseas to Japan. I'm so glad you want me to lose that again.
