Personally, I thought that was supposed to be the point of Zelda (minus the story, of course).
... g'haa ... Are you referring to the Invisible Barriers or the "Freedom" point? icon_blink.gif

I mean, even Oblivion had those "invisible barriers" but they weren't nearly as obviously "INVISIBLE BARRIERS" as they were "Oh, hey, there's an ocean here. Even if I were to continue this way, there would logically be nothing there anyway, so it's a barrier of my OWN mental placement." Whereas in Spirit Tracks, even though you have a lot of land to explore, you're still stuck on a train, and can only go where the train can go. That is the annoying type of invisible barrier.

The "Freedom" point. I was actually replying to the second sentence in the quote. But I know exactly what you mean: Pretty much every Zelda game (up till now, anyways) had no "invisible barriers" that were obvious.

I don't know about you, but surrounding mountain ranges and gaps in the scenery are kind of obvious to me icon_shrug.gif . I guess for it to not be obvious, it's have to be kind of like a globe kinda thing, like if you go far enough you'll return to the same spot eventually...something like that.

Invisible barriers. Those are natural barriers. icon_blah.gif

We're talking about the train's apparent limiting of overworld travel.

Well, maybe you can get off the train whenever you want. Or maybe there's just a small area with the train, and every stop is a massive sized overworld filled with secrets, You never know, and it's too early to speculate.

That's all I really hope for: For the train to be an option. I mean, boats were necessary when you're on the ocean, but even then, there were very few restrictions on where you could go while on the Great Sea. Open overworlds should never restrict you. Maybe they already know that and will make the train an option, so you're right.

But I'd rather have a horse or nothing. icon_shrug.gif

Maybe the train is like a horse, and the spirits inside the tracks make them move around to let you go where you want. icon_smile.gif

If the final version doesn't change from the trailer, then all the tracks are apparently set up, already. Even if something like that did happen, I'd still find it lame. icon_shrug.gif

I just want to see some good old-fashioned Zelda again. No gimmicks, just gameplay. And a horse.

Majora's Mask is coming to virtual console. icon_smile.gif

And hey, it's not like Nintendo hasn't changed stuff from trailers before. The first trailer of TP showed Moblins, but they got cut.

I meant new games. icon_blah.gif

Yeah, but that was two years before the game actually came out. When Phantom Hourglass's trailer was released, everything in the trailer you saw in the game. Doesn't mean there aren't first times; there just aren't any other standards to compare to in the DS realm. icon_shrug.gif

Wow. That whip... it's like Indiana Jones. Nice. And it looks like they have plenty of good puzzles with the Phantom. And Ghoma... I love Ghoma... and they included Ghoma... This is awesome. icon_smile.gif

I haven't looked at any videos yet, but...

Link with a train and a whip?

"Yee-haw! Giddy-up, pardner! Let's get this wagon train a-moving!"
