maybe you could try it and see.

it will change perspectives a few times, I think, but, in the demo, there are only two scenes, really.

Yeah, perhaps I will have to give it a go sometime. Most likely when I get my actual computer up and running. Right now I am on a backup machine, with terrible specs, granted I am playing through some quests that I am testing, but it is having a cow doing so.

Just playing around with the new dirt, and GB-styled mountains. I still need to rip in some mountain and dirt stuff though.

@Yoshidude: I think the custom grass tiles would look better on the screen if the plain ground portion of the tiles had the sandy pattern on them. Otherwise, if you use them with plain ground too, have separate tiles/combos for plain and sandy ground.

@Jared: Nice solid screenshot there! Looks nice, including the dirt tiles. Definitely looks like a break from the norm.

On another note, I have an issue that is not so much of how a screen layout looks, but the pallettes on the screen.

Has anyone made an Underworld (as opposed to an Overworld)? I'm making one and I need advice on the pallette colors. I wanted to use the same combos for both overworld and underworld, so please tell me how these look (please ignore the fact that the roofs are two-toned):

The one on the left is with purples replacing greens (preferred); the one on the right is purples replacing the browns. I was thinking the water should look like lava.

For comparison, here's the same screen with an overworld pallette:

Any color suggestions?

The lav looks more like blood, not sure why though. icon_shrug.gif

Lightwulf, go with purple replacing the green, for sure. Also, if you change the lava color just a bit it might look a little better.
Great screen though.

Seems pretty average for a classic screen. Design is basic, detail is limited (especially in the water), and the colors are pretty simple for an updated-classic like shot. Honestly, I really dislike those dirt tiles. Their colors are really off, and the design of them isn't my favorite. Sand tiles look good, though (but I assume you didn't draw any of those things?). Fence tiles could certainly use improvement, in my opinion (are the hand drawn, or ripped?) as well. Overall, maybe a 6/10

I'm sorry but I don't like the bland of sand and dirt tiles I liked it better before and that fence is really bugging me because it's the only thing that is out of perspective. Good design, not the right choice of tiles.

I don't like the sand because the tree is bolded while the sand isn't.

I think this is looking pretty good. I'm assuming you haven't added flowers and stuff yet? I like the layout.

Can you explain to me what you mean by ''Bolded''?

The pixels within the trees are thick, in other words, bolded there is a smooth version that you changed I assume that one is more better and fits in.
