I thought you could press 'Special' again to stop mid-flight. Does Lucina not have that option with her final smash?

I came up with a mini game for training mode that I like to call "Red Shulk Green Shulk". Basically, one player is Shulk and the other is Bowser Jr. and you play on a FD stage. Bowser Jr. stands at one end and Shulk stands at the other, and Bowser Jr. shoots his cannon and Shulk can only move by countering it. I'm sure you can guess the victory conditions

Why does kirby take random damage? Is it meant to be implied that the X on the camera is somehow affecting the level and can be touched by the characters on the battle field?

Considering that the same paint is seen terraforming land and creating monsters in Super Mario Sunshine, I don't think it's that implausible.
