Yeah, the whole bit with Eldin Volcano erupting was amazing, although personally, I was hoping it would lead into "And that's why it was called Death Mountain after that". But no, instead, it's just "Oh whoops, sorry, didn't mean to make the volcano explode like that. My bad." Other than that, it was awesome. Faron wouldn't have been as bad if they'd given you the dowsing ability for it right off the bat.

Aww man, the search for all your equipment on Eldin Volcano was great. Finally a moment in the game where Fi is quiet and players are *gasp* forced to figure things out on THEIR OWN. It's a foreign concept to this game at this point.

Before I post here, I wanted to get something out of the way.

If anyone's interested, I've started a story, called Skyward Academy Amore:
Please don't.

It'll have homosexuality and heterosexuality romances, so read only if you're okay with those.
My goodness... please stop icon_sweat.gif
I'm going to infer you're anti-fanfic, which, well, so am I, but could you at least have said something more, well, tactful about it?

NoeL, please! What's the hell's your problem? Grow up!
And this... was somewhat unnecessary, I must say. Well, mostly the "grow up" part. Again, tactless.

I've actually already chatted with you, and my suggestion was to take the fanfic to its own thread, since most people here want to talk about the game rather than fanfiction, but guys, softer tones will take you a long way. icon_shrug.gif

Anyways, to the subject:

Did anyone else find the fetch quests towards the end quite tedious, and feel that they were an attempt to artificially extend the game? So far, I think it was great up will the Fire Sanctuary. The Faron Woods fetch quest was almost enough to make me drop the game, and the Eldin Volcano one seems to be pretty damn annoying.
Nah, just the Faron Woods one I disliked. Because the swimming is downright awful in this game. There was one part that was actually clever (having to climb onto the top of the tree and jumping onto a lilypad to make it flip), but the rest was just tedious. Not-Faron (cuz I refuse to call that b**** of a dragon Faron after playing TP first) cemented herself as one of my most-hated characters of all time in Zelda.

But the Eldin Volcano portion was incredible. Very throwback to Forsaken Fortress. A very excellent stealth mission (and I do love stealth missions, when they're good and not plentiful). And the Lanayru mission was also pretty clever. So... I only found the Faron quest despicable; the other two were pretty damn good.

I loved the Eldin Volcano Stealth mission, I do kinda wish you had to get each item individually instead of getting like the first 5 and then getting everything all at once. The Lanayru Desert one was okay, nothing special and I hated the Faron Woods one as well, especially since swimming in this game is beyond atrocious.. I'll take TP swimming, OoT swimming, MM Zora's Mask swimming and heck while we're at it, WW swimming over SS swimming any day.

Honestly, I don't see why people hate the swimming. Cuz really, it was atrocious in almost every 3D game before this except for MM (YAY Zora Link). Really, it felt natural in SS. I liked it.

It wasn't that bad in TP for GCN. icon_shrug.gif

And mostly I hate trying to properly aim for precise platforms with that ridiculous motion control scheme just so I could shake the nunchuck and hope to land where I want to. Granted this only really was a problem when swimming was first introduced, but it was still a pain.

Oh yeah, I should've specified that, GCN TP. I never played the Wii one.

I've actually hurt my wrist trying to turn while swimming and the ridiculous air meter annoys the heck out of me as well.

I hated the MM Zora swimming though for some reason, it was very difficult to aim. I remember it took ages to do a water jump to get onto a certain ledge in the Stone Tower.

Diving out of the water is annoying at first but very easy to get used to.

I've completed the game twice and still suck at it, so I guess i'm just slow at it.

Anyhow, I'm trying to get 99 of each collectible and I'm having problems finding areas that have a good group of Bokoblins and Keese (all but Dark). Right now, I'm using the area outside the Earth Temple for the Bokoblins (4x) and the entrance to the Desert for the Keese (6x, but I have to hit the Timeshift Stones twice to do it every time, so it takes forever to spawn them again).

Has anyone seen any other areas where these enemies appear it greater numbers and can be spawned again by going to a nearby door? This is at the end of the game too, so some enemies don't appear anymore like they did earlier in the game.

Keese are in that waterfall cave on Skyloft, unless you've already collected all 80 gratitude crystals.

Well, the Kikwis immediately reminded me of the Koroks, based on their face shapes, leaves,
waddling movements, and even some of their sounds. We all know by now that the Kokiri
are forest spirits, and by the time of The Wind Waker, they took on a new shape and became
the Koroks.

Anyway, this isn't the first time I've stated my belief that the Kikwis became the Kokiri, but
tonight I was looking at Radien's avatar - the giant Kikwi with the long mustache. I couldn't
put my finger on what made it so vaguely familiar, and then all of a sudden it hit me. The
Great Deku tree has a large mustache, and I just wondered if there was a connection there
beyond the visual reference of a tall, looming figure (or tree) with a mustache. I don't
know if it is possible or not that the big Kikwi could actually become the Great Deku Tree.
But I just thought I'd share this idea, as it suddenly fascinated me.

To be honest, I also wondered if the Kikwis became Kokiri before becoming the Koroks. And the mustache... That never dawned on me till now. Nice observation. It would be an interesting idea, especially since there's a giant tree in Faron, and the Kikwis are the only inhabitants, but then again, I can see how they weren't Kokiri. Either way, I love the Kikwis; they're cute, funny, and generally awesome.

Speaking of observations, I was totally clueless that the old woman was young Impa grown old.
I noticed the Sheikah type symbols on her robe to be sure, but I thought that young Impa was
from Link's time (at first), so that both characters existed simultaneously. Good job Nintendo.

I feel somewhat ashamed admitting this though, especially since when I played Ocarina of Time,
I knew the first time I saw Sheik that it was Zelda in disguise. Same for Tetra.

Not to open up that can of worms again, but this was actually one of the reasons for my interpretation
of Skyward Sword's time travel. I think all Link's actions took place before Link went back in time becuase
it was young Impa who initiated the time travel by going to the future, not Link or old Impa going to the past,
which leads me to believe that when SS Link first sees old Impa, Link's battle with Demise is already in her past.
Buuuut, I don't wanna fight about it, as I started to sense some tension on this topic earlier.

EDIT: This may be pushing a point, but just now I thought of the WW Deku Tree asking Link to climb
up and fetch the big leaf. And I thought of the big Kikwi asking Link to climb up on his back to get an item.

EDIT 2: Hmmm... In The Wind Waker, you save the Deku Tree from an infestation of Chu Chus.
I remember there are Chu Chus in SS, but I don't remember if Link fought some off to protect the big Kikwi or not.

On the Kikwis: Here's how I see it. The Great Deku Tree calls the Kokiri and Koruks his children, and is strongly implied to have created them himself, being a minor deity of sorts. That relationship doesn't exist with the Kikwi chief; he's just a big one who happens to be their leader. My money's on the Great Tree becoming the Great Deku Tree. I mean, how many trees get that big? And are called Great?

On Impa: I didn't figure it out either, because I figured that Young Impa was from Link's time, and that she was the same Impa from OoT (and by connection that the Sheikah just live a long time). Guess I was wrong there.

I figured out the old woman was Impa about halfway through the game. It was the Sheikah symbol, the braid (it's on the same side of her face as younger Impa's), and then later, you can see a marking on her face similar to young Impa's. As far as calling Sheik as Zelda and Tetra as Zelda, well, I forget the latter, but the former, I had already known Sheik was Zelda before playing the game. And now I remember; the latter I knew because I was at a friend's house and they had a file beaten, their young kid (I think he was 8 at the time) wanted me to beat the final boss for him, so I obliged (this was a little while before I owned WW for my own), so I had already seen Puppet Ganon, the final Ganondorf fight, and the ending, so I had already known Zelda and Tetra were the same. So I didn't get the pleasure of trying to figure those out or get surprised on my own. icon_frown.gif
