Hmm... I wonder if anyone has actually beaten the MD boss without taking advantage of those "certain things". It is possible, but the battle would be much tougher...

Huh? What "certain things"?

You noticed thoses colorful tiles on the floor? If you activate them, you can restrict the movement of the boss. icon_wink.gif

Err, are you talking about the gray things? I noticed that some flashed red when I left the room and walked over the star things, and that there was an unlightable torch and unactivatable switch. Figured it was something I had to kill the boss to activate (perhaps in order to open the door and leave the room), but then I still couldn't light the torch or activate the switch. I'm assuming making those things flash red may have effected it but with the door being open and knowing there was nothing left to get in the master dome, I just forgot about it. I suppose that's probably what you are talking about though, *shrug*.(And yes, I had guessed that the star things would do something too, but since the other things weren't activaing I figured "why bother until I kill the boss?")

Anyway, I have both level 4 keys and no flame chip, where do I need to go to get the flame chip?

The torch is litable and the switch is activatable. icon_wink.gif

Byt anyhoo, the flame chip is in the Plague Laboratory. Have you been there? You have to find the exit around the eastern part of the Fortress. The lab is really easy to find.

That's.......odd, they didn't work when I tried them. I guess it was a glitch or something. But I suppose at this point it's moot.

Hmm, I'm going to guess I haven't been to the eastern side based on some walkways on the 2nd floor that seem to come from it which I can't get to yet. I'll have another look though.

edit - Great, it seems I deleted my save, well I don't feel like going back through all that anytime soon. I'll just wait for the 2.5 version. Hopefully the grasps won't still be taking shields and will be maybe doing something else, like not taking a shield when get you.

Well those Grasps won't be changed. But I'm investigating the possibility of either reducing their numbers even more or then adding more shields to the quest. Of course I have to negotiate with Wofie about all the possible changes, but the changes for the 2.5 version will not be big. Mostly some bugfixes and some minor enhancements, that's it.

And how the heck does one manage to delete his save file... O_o ...unless your computer acted up or something mysterious happened...

Nothing mysterious happened, it's just that since lost isle takes a few seconds to load I press enter twice to make sure I selected the file. Problem was I had gotten used to doing it so fast that I didn't notice it in time when I pressed the down key first.

And next time, I'll be doing it with 3 hearts, it's bound to challenge me then. I'd have to skip catacombs because of the boss, and masterdome because of 80% of the rooms, but I'll bet I can get through the rest.

Hmm... only 3 hearts? Whoa, if you could do that you can get a cookie. icon_smile.gif I can promise the last boss would be quite a pain in the arse...

Even though you didn't manage to finish the game this time, do you have any further comments/feedback about the quest? I'm not asking an overall opinion, but like... what things have been good so far and what hasn't been good. I just might get some useful tips for my next projects, like so far I have gotten good advice about not putting complex mazes under catwalks and not making the disappearing floor parts too unforgiving etc. icon_smile.gif

Good? Well mostly everything. The only dungeon I enjoyed for it's challenge was the master dome, but being the author of the hardest quest in existence, that shouldn't be a surprize. The others were fun to play through, I thought a lot of the ideas were nice. Though level 2 got annoying with having to walk under passages and stuff. It's not as bad as it may seem at face value, but I'd have preferred not to deal with it. Though on a 2nd playthrough, since you know where to go and all, I imagine it's much less aggravating. Orlach's lines were also a good thing.

Bland? Well, level 1 did have the most ominous music of the first 4 levels, shouldn't that have been reversed?

Bad? Grasps.

Really bad? Grasps.

So irritating it should never have existed? Grasps.

Could stand to have not been in the game at all? Grasps.

For the love of all things good if anything go's at all please let it be this? Grasps.

If you want my advice on future quests, I'm afraid I'm useless for anything but how to give a good fighting challenge, for which I am excellent.

Well, I will say right now that there will be NO MORE shield additions in the 2.5 version if that ever comes out. There are six shields to acquire normally and that's the way it stays. Now I will understand the change about altering the amount of how many Grasps there are in the game. Because they can be a bit annoying. icon_wink.gif But six shields is MORE than enough for the game imo.

I am still trying to beat Level 1. I got the raft, compass and map. I can't find the big key or the boss. How do I open that blue and yellow chest. I think I need the big key, right? Can anyone help me? How do I move that big block with the eye on it so I can pass through that door?

Hmm... I don't know if I understood even half of what you said, but yes, nothing beats the original Legend of Zelda.

Anarchy, I find it amusing that you hate Grasps so much. You're a super awesome player yet Grasps make you see nightmares... icon_wink.gif
But I agree about the under passage stuff and I will never do that kind of stuff in my future games anymore. I thought it was a nice idea, but I can now see that it can be a bit annoying.
