Previews are calling this the hardest Zelda game since the NES days, with several sources citing how often they died.

Let's put this in perspective:

- Much harder than most other titles

- Has more RPG-like elements than the rest of the series

- Has a dedicated jump button

Breath of the Wild is basically a Zelda II successor.

Aha! A clever misdirection, claiming this was a Zelda I successor. Well played, Nintendo.

I'm glad to hear the game's not going to go easy on us, at least.

If we took Twilight Princess levels of damage, hearing that hard mode is DLC would have made me more angry.

I think for this last six days, I'm going to try to abstain from seeing anything else from this game. I just watched GameXplain's hour long Q&A livestream, and I almost wish I didn't. I want as much of this game to be a mystery as possible, but it's hard to not suck up every detail.

I'm taking the same approach. I read one preview that had one tiny detail I would have liked unspoiled but ultimately doesn't matter, but that was enough to convince me that I should go radio silent on previews, reviews, etc. I was tempted to watch GameXplain's thirty-minute video but am opting not to. I need to keep as much of the game as possible quiet so I can fully enrich myself later.

I haven't watched anything related to the game recently. I'm just sticking to that "final" trailer until release. A few weeks I saw a minor spoiler on GoNintendo and that pushed me to stop. But I also don't wanna spoil anything of course.

PBG released a tribute song with a couple of collaborators and it's... actually pretty good. Thought it was worth sharing here.

The most annoying part is, these videos claim to be spoiler free, yet I already learned about 6 things I would have liked to not learn yet. As far as I'm concerned, everything is a spoiler. Environments, abilities, character/ enemy designs, etc. I just can't wait. This week is crawling, and living in this desolate, Switchless world is driving good men to insanity.

Definitely why I have avoided all videos besides the E3 trailer, and the January Presentation 2017 video. I've started watching a couple of videos, and got the feeling they were gonna spoil some things for me, so I stopped as soon as I got that feeling. I want this as a 98.6% fresh experience!

I was going to wait until I save up a bit of money before I go out and get the Switch and the game, but my friend told me she got the game for me, so now I have no choice but to use my tax refund to get the Switch, because there's no way I can have the game in my possession, but no way to play it.

Gosh dang, do I love my friends <3

I am fortunate enough that my girl got her income tax back and finally paid me back the $460 she borrowed two years ago. I was going to wait until I got mine to preorder it (I opted for a check rather than direct deposit). But of course I might not have gotten it on time.

Game's not even out yet, and the speedrun work has already begun.

I don't know if this has been talked about yet, but I've been re-watching Game Grumps play Zelda II, and they're in the Great Palace, which is full of bird imagery and bird enemies, which made me think of the bird people in BoTW. I wonder if there's some kind of connection between the two, or if we'll ever fight bird knights in the game, because that would be kinda rad imho.

Apparently there have been massive leaks recently, so be very careful when looking at BoTW content. For example, a YouTube thumbnail spoiled the most powerful armor in the game for me (and I wasn't even looking for spoilers at the time.) apparently 4chan is to blame for the massive spoilers.

So yeah, be careful.
