Marin from Link's Awakening (in the style of the A Link Between Worlds artwork).
That's absolutely gorgeous! I had no idea you were such a talented artist.

I made this in an hour or so. I'm looking for criticism, as I'm experimenting with colors and paintbrushes. I'm not really comfortable drawing outside of black and white sketches, so this is new for me. If you look at the ship you can clearly see how I have a tendency to draw outlines even when I'm trying to avoid doing just that.

It's hard for me to offer criticism, since I don't have much artistic knowledge, but I like it. I love how downplayed the colors are and get a nice sense of loneliness off of it. The color blending in the sky looks especially nice. The only thing that doesn't look quite right to me is the wave swell on the left. I think the lighter part there looks a little too square and doesn't feel like it's following the shape of the water. Overall, it's lovely. ![]()

Thanks guys. I tried taking some of the ideas into consideration, and I also made the ocean itself a little bit darker. Not sure if I'm happy with the ship, but it's better than it was, I think.

Hmmm....your sky and waves are looking a lot nicer but the ship didn't quite turn out as nice as I hoped. Oh well, it seemed like a nice idea in retrospect. ![]()
Maybe it should be colored something adjacent on the color wheel like dark navy or yellow-gray? Go ahead and experiment with all kinds of stuff!

Made some further changes. It's hard editing the look of the boat now, due to the strong red color I used. I wish I hadn't saved that, or that I had at least used layers. Oh well. I did mute the red colors a bit, and I also changed a few other things as well. I also tried adding some more depth to the ocean, and I'm pretty happy with the results.

I made an illustration of Charlie Chaplin dressed as The Tramp.

Absolutely wonderful, Sheik. I really enjoy the style that you've been using.

Cooool, Charlie Chaplin! Very classy stuff. I didn't expect a lot going into The Gold Rush, but it had it's great moments. A truly timeless comedian, that man.
And that's a great pop art look you've got going on there! I'm a big fan of the vertical-band shading, and in retrospect I think the picture's flow would have been absolutely ruined with horizontal-band shading.

The vertical lines are supposed to restructure where the splashes are meant to make the thing feel more dynamic. Having both elements (kind of "rigid" structure by the vertical-band shading and messy dynamics from the chaotic splashes) together is meant to evoke a certain tension. And then there's PopArt in it of course.
Anyways, thanks for the feedback!

Wow, all these works of art. It makes me want to get back into drawing more and more.
