Welp, shunted everything aside and decided to go for the second Phoenix Wright game, Justice for All. Two cases down in that, two to go. It's got a better flow than the first admittedly, but it's still plagued by slow text. Tried to get a save file working so that I could force the text to go faster, but never could get it to work, so I'm dealing with it.
Good luck making it through the third case. D: It's not poorly-written or anything, but some of the characters are just ridiculously irritating, aaaaaaugh.

The fourth case is great, though. It has a really interesting story development that, well... you'll see when you get there, I guess. I don't want to give too much away!

Oh, I'm gonna try. I find the characters and story of the series interesting enough to want to know what people are talking about when it gets discussed. But unanimous opinion seems to be that Justice for All is the weakest in the series, but I can't have that stance yet since it's only the second game I've played and I liked the first two cases (the investigations are far more fun than the first game), but the music is dreadful compared to the first game. So hopefully if case three is really that bad (I've heard others say similar things), the terrible music won't compound that to drive me away from the game. icon_heh.gif

If I'm remembering correctly, Case 3 is complete filler, and if you can find a way to skip it, you won't be missing out on any of the main story at all.

Case 4 isn't bad at all, just make absolutely sure that your batteries don't go dead in your DS. Mine went out while saving, and I had to completely replay the entire case from the beginning because it corrupted the save file. It wasn't bad the first time around, but having to replay absolutely everything twice in a row was enough to make me hate the case entirely.

Trials and Tribulations is my favorite out of the initial three, mainly because of the ending to the overarching plot for that game. I liked the final villain and the breakdown. I enjoyed Apollo Justice mainly because of the bracelet mechanic, which I feel should be brought back in a new game.

Investigations is much more fast-paced, with a third-person viewpoint during the crime-scene parts of the game, and the court system replaced with interrogating witnesses on the spot. A lot of people complained that the last case in that game went on far too long, but I honestly liked it a lot, and liked the little catch in the rules that the villain was abusing to try and get away with the crimes.

As for fan-games, I've seen several, but the artwork is always a turn-off for me. They try to emulate the original style a lot of the time, and it never looks right and clashes with the ripped graphics they choose to use. I'd personally like to see one where they don't rip any graphics and redraw all of the characters so that it's different but still consistent. (Chibi-Phoenix and Edgeworth in court, anybody?) Still, if you don't mind trying those ones, I'd recommend Turnabout Substitution (Unofficial Apollo Justice Case 5). Very well written, but a bit glitchy. I had several problems where the programming was screwed up and wouldn't play correctly, but if you're any good at scripting at all, the language used is supposed to be incredibly easy to figure out and you could probably fix the problems fairly quickly.

Wait, people complain about the last case? I thought it was perfect. My problem is with every other case of the game, which are all dragged out and mostly boring. I like that for once, every single case is related to the main story, but still, the first four just felt kinda "eh". The last case was perfect though.

This. I ran into a big once at the end with the timer during the final confrontation, but from what I understand, the engine's been updated to fix this since I played. And even then, that really didn't do much to bring the case down. It was just amazing. Honestly one of my favorite cases in the series, better than any of the actual AJ cases, I'd say.

Edit: "I thought it was my perfect." How do I English?

I got a hold of "Kirby's Return to Dream Land" yesterday, thinking it was something my five-year-old brother, nine-year-old sister, and thirteen-year-old sister could have fun with together. They fought and argued with each other the entire time. Rather disappointing...

I like Kirby games as well, so while I was stuck babysitting the two younger ones, I had them playing together and I'd help with boss battles and difficult bits. Alex, the five-year-old, liked the game so much that he had me play through the whole damned game with him all in one sitting. Like I said, I enjoy Kirby games, but I hit burnout on Nutty Noon. (Started at Onion Ocean, so it was world 3 that I started, and I got burned out on world 5, on a 7 world game).

I know the big point of the game is the co-op, but the way it was designed had me screwed over very often. Alex ate through lives like Halloween candy, and never understood the point of not using the super-charged inhale ability every time, so I kept getting sucked in during boss fights and losing whatever ability I was using at the time. The carrying mechanic was horrible because he'd get in the way after a jump and carry me off a cliff before I knew what was going on and that I needed to jump off to fly to safety.

Hopefully he'll let me play by myself to get the rest of the Energy Spheres. I'm pretty sure I can 100% this game easily as long as I don't have to worry about Alex's special brand of "teamwork". (Final boss just made me miss Marx Soul so much more. Close, but not quite as good as that one, or even the original version. I would love a new remake of that game with this version's graphics, or even one of Kirby 64.)

I beat Resident Evil: Revelations (long overdue). It took me 9 hours. I have two main complaints with this game. First, I have to agree with what Robin said about the enemies. Very very repetitive. There wasn't much variety at all. In fact, you can put all the enemies in Revelations in one level in RE4. My second complaint is the dodging mechanic is just broken. To dodge, you have to flick the Circle Pad in a certain direction which only works half the time. Very frustrating especially when facing the final boss where it's flat out impossible to run from his attacks.

Complaints aside, this game has the best presentation value on the 3DS thus far. The only game that could rival this is Kid Icarus Uprising which I also need to beat. Definitely a good contender for 3DS Game of the Year.

OVERALL SCORE: 4.5/5

Out of curiosity, have you played the G.U. Trilogy yet? I have that set (actually just parts two and three), but not the original set of four games, and was curious how much of a difference there are between the two.

I played the third game of the G.U. trilogy. I thought it was pretty good. but it was hard as hell if you didn't level your characters up right.

And the difference between game play. Is...

.Hack Original series

1.Areas
When leaving to go to a field by combining Keywords, was a field and a dungeon. Unlike G.U. where when you use the gate.
there is two types of area's you can go to. A-Field, B-Dungeon.

2. Battle Systems
In G.U. Was when you touched enemies you would get locked into combat in a ring.

In the Original there was the things called portals. you get near one and it open revealing the enemies.
which then set you in battle Mode. Which you were not lock in a ring to fight them. unless you was in a dungeon where to get the doors to the next room open you had to beat them.
And on the field the enemies also walked around freely and they would attack you without notice.

3. Boss battles
In G.U. most major boss battles were played out with you controlling a Avatar and you combating the boss by your self. like some type of mini game.

In the Original, Most boss battles are fought on foot. like a normal battle. and most Phase's battles (Major battles there <,<)
You were put in a big open field area and the boss would freaking beat the crap of you there.

Those are the things I've noticed so far.

Leveling wasn't really an issue as long as you were converting your save files as you go. If I remember right, the default starting level in part 2 was 40, but you could transfer a save file with level 50 characters. If you maxed levels on part 2, you'd be starting part three at level 100, but if you started fresh, you were at 80.

Transferring files made you ridiculously overpowered at the beginning of each new disc, and if you hunted down the Doppelganger for the special weapon or accessory drops, that overpowered-ness would carry through the whole damned game. (up until you got the dual guns, then you were overpowered for a completely different reason)

Anyways, I just started Extra Mode on Return to Dreamland. It's actually fairly difficult. I lost a life just fighting Whispy Woods. Of course, once I knew what to expect from the game, the only lives I lost were mostly suicides to reset that puzzle where you have to chase the enemy carrying a key to a bottomless pit.

The idea of what'll happen when I get to the final boss makes me a little nervous, but since I convinced my little brother to stick with the standard difficulty and let me solo Extra Mode, I don't think I'll have as much trouble as I did the first time around.

Yay, Justice for All's finally finished. And that case was actually pretty fun, although I felt the last day of court had a few minor holes in it; some things seemed to happen a little too conveniently (even for Ace Attorney), though I can't recall what those were at the moment. Still, a pretty good case, more than makes up for the heinous crime that was the circus case. Though pretty much anything regarding a circus in video games tend to royally suck nowadays. But yeah, I'd say that the game itself is an improvement over its predecessor, but it was inferior (if only just) in the story department, and apart from a small handful of tracks, the new music was pretty bad, especially the Cornered theme. Oh gosh, what is this terrible music my poor ears why D:

But yeah, that's it for that game. And the series for a while. Because Assassin's Creed III tomorrow, w00t.

Well, I'm at a point in Final Fantasy IX where all there really is to do other than head into Memoria is just level grinding, and the way Memoria seems to be set up, it doesn't really seem all that interesting, to be honest. Unless I'm missing out on something really interesting to warrant all the leveling I'm going to need to do, I'm just going to start X-2. Despite all the good things I've heard about FFIX, the only thing I really liked about it was probably the graphics. Making things a little bit more cartoon-ish was a really good idea considering the method they were using for seven through nine.

I love your new picture you're using, TS. I couldn't stop laughing when I saw it.
